Love as a first name

Can you tell I’ve been re-watching You?

Every time I watch this show I am surprised by how much I love the character’s name - Love.

My children are Tabitha and Reuben so I don’t think I could ever use Love as a sibling name. It would sound too odd alongside such normal biblical names, plus I don’t think I’d have the courage anyway!

But is it me, or is it actually quite a nice name? (I do have a tendency to get obsessed with the names of whatever show I’m watching.

Last week, I watched The Haunting of Hill House and decided I was going to name my daughter Theodora or Eleanore. So I’ll probably have a new name obsession when I watch the next shop!)

I call everyone Love, or Lovey, so call your baby whatever you like and adopt a Northern accent. Be reet 👍🏻

My friend’s middle name is Loveday. I really like it and so does she!

I know a 50-something man called this (Ghanaian) and think it's beautiful! It's uncommon, yes, but a short simple sound so actually doesn't feel unusual as a name once you hear it.

Unless your surname is Monster I don’t think it works.

I have a horse called Love

She's a total bitch and should really be called Devil

SoupDragon · 20/02/2023 08:34

Just awful IMO. (As is Loveday).

Have you seen Blackadder? I don't think Captain Darling would recommend it!

NewUserName2023 · 20/02/2023 08:24

Loveday

DisplayPurposesOnly · 20/02/2023 08:19

Loveday is a fabulous name (for a girl)

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/02/2023 08:08

Not a good idea. Keep watching some more shows so you can be swayed by something else 😊

I wouldn't use Love - too much potential for jokes/misunderstandings/teasing.

But I loved Cara for our DD's name - means 'beloved'.

Twizbe · 20/02/2023 07:48

I wouldn't use Love, just because I'm from a part of the country that uses Luv as a general form of address.

I have however called my daughter Cerys which means beloved ...
