Brother for Sam and Henry

Totally stuck, trying to find a name for a third boy! Really wanted something one or two syllables, a bit more modern but not wild.
Considering:
Elliot - put off by it being 3 syllables
Noah - but we’re v atheist
Arthur - worried it’s all too old man/Tudor with Henry
Alexander - not super excited by Alex but feels safe.

Can’t use Finn, Leo or Oscar. Any ideas or thoughts welcome!

Keep coming back to Jack, just had hoped for something a bit different. I love love Finn but can’t use it and I guess Jack has similar vibes

I think you need to go for a solid sensible sort. James is a good shout but basically anything you could imagine someone being called 500 years ago. William maybe?

I was sort of hoping for something more modern this time but I do like Will - just too much like the princes with Henry!

I don't think Max and Sam work together, it's basically the same name in reverse!

I have similarly named kids OP and had there been a 3rd boy, Austin and Reuben were my top picks.

Alex is lovely and will stand the test of time , working for little ones, teens and adults and goes well with the sibling names.

ourflagmeansdeath · 16/02/2023 00:21

I'm not much use, but Sam and Henry are the brothers in The Last of Us TV show lol!! Maybe make sure you don't use any more names from there to avoid association (although it is a fab show!). So like no Joel, Tommy etc. But I don't think it would matter too much if you did.

I also don't think Noah would be an issue even if you were an atheist. I know many non Christian families who have boys called Noah. Go for it if you like it, it goes well with Sam and Henry. And I wouldn't do Arthur with Henry. But I do love Alex, and I like Noah too!!

Joshua? Dont hear many Joshua's these day, or Oliver, William, Zachary, Jacob, all go nice.

StrictlyCandelabra · 16/02/2023 00:00

Benjamin or Daniel were my first thoughts.

I have an Alex(ander) so I am biased there. Oliver and Francis were my second thoughts. All have great nicknames.

Alistair possible with nickname Ally? I feel like spelling could be an issue!

I was going to suggest Alistair, I think it goes well, nn Al or Ally

Nicholas nn Nico

zachary nn Zach

Patrick

Miles

Jethro

Francis nn Frank

Maximilian nn Max

Owen

Otis

You could also make it Arthur nn Art, to get rid of Tudor associations

Tireddoggymum · 15/02/2023 23:07

Laurence is a great solid name ,Laurie is lovely for when he is younger.

I do like George but husband isn’t keen! Will with Henry felt a bit too like the princes :)
