What can be shortened to Annie?

Love the name Annie, and it’s a homage to family members from both sides, but would like a longer nickname so they’ve got more of a choice if they decide they don’t like Annie later in life. Any suggestions?

Love Anwen

But you could call them a long version and they may not like that either. If you love Annie just use Annie it's a gorgeous name in its own right. Have confidence in your taste in names.

HedgehogB · 15/02/2023 00:14

My mum is called Anya.

Oh goodness, don't let work colleague names put you off! Do you intend to work there for the rest of your days? Will your daughter ever even meet them? If you like a name, use it!

It’s not necessarily that I will work there forever, but you know those names that you just won’t use because you associate them with someone that you don’t feel all that positive about? It’s one of those Grin

Anna is my favourite.

Wasn't it traditionally a pet name for Ann(e)?

Love Alannah and Alanis, even tho Alanis is a bit “out there” for me! Some great suggestions further upthread too but unfortunately the same names as a few of my work colleagues, so that rules them out too! A lot of names I hadn’t considered at all as relating to Annie, thank you!

My mum is Annemarie and goes by Annie. Annie is my daughters middle name.

canteditme · 14/02/2023 23:14

Love annabel/Annabelle but can’t use as have an Isabelle! Joanna is lovely, perhaps dated but I love it, probably my favourite so far. I love classic, traditional names - if anyone has any more, please keep them coming!
