Cassius or Rocco
Please help
If you don't like either that's fine

I'd go for Cassius because Rocco makes me think of the porn star. I don't think he makes the name unusable, but he's still not somebody I'd want my kid's name to be associated with.

It's something to be aware of for when your child is older and might Google his name.

Rocco is very old-fashioned and has some unfortunate connotations to a modern Italian ear. It is very rarely used in Italy at the moment.

I will also say that Rocco is a proud traditional Mediterranean/Italian name, it's certainly not a made up or fad name. Associated with a fourteenth century saint who tended to those sick with plague and plenty of towns in the Mediterranean celebrate the feast of Saint Rocco as the protector of their communities.

I know it’s an Italian name but for some reason it seems to be rising in popularity in this part of Scotland and the families I know using it are not from Italy/the Mediterranean region. It’s been hijacked a bit I think, maybe because it sounds bit chilled surfer dude (although Edinburgh isn’t renowned for its surf)

Rocco is absolutely dreadful - conjures up some real mental images that I shan't share as they're very judgemental Grin but I will say it puts me in mind of a little shaven headed boy with an earring mainly

Although I prefer Cassius, I know a little Rocco and there are no negative comments or associations with it afaik. So if that is your clear preference, I'd go for that

If you like Rocco who cares what randoms on Mumsnet think? It's a perfectly fine name. Half of the names praised on here are dreadful to me, but that's just personal taste, like anyone else's opinion.
I have a Rocco. The name has family connections for us which but I would've been happy to use it regardless.
