Zara or Alexa (likely to be nn Lexi)?

surname is a well known two syllable name ending in er.

I did wonder if the Amazon thing is too much of an issue. I don’t have one and neither do any of the houses I visit regularly so it’s not a particularly strong association for me

But they will get bullied at school. Trust me.

Notallaboutthemoney · 07/02/2023 22:59

Zara

everythingsapickle · 07/02/2023 22:57

Zara or Alexandra nn Lexi. I agree that I wouldn’t use Alexa.

Foxglovers · 07/02/2023 22:50

Definitely Zara. I’d really dislike to be called Lexie - makes me think ‘sexy Lexie’🥴

Roseyposeypudding · 07/02/2023 13:37

Zara

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 07/02/2023 13:24

Zara.

RuthW · 07/02/2023 12:17

You can not use Alexa.

fairycupcakes · 07/02/2023 11:53

Zara is beautiful. Alexa is too but as mentioned annoyingly unusable now. How about Alexis though?

Billslills · 07/02/2023 10:34

I really like Zara. Alexandra is also nice, but quite a mouthful.

PumpkinTruffles · 07/02/2023 10:20

I like Zara. My mind did immediately go to Amazon with Alexa though. Do you like Alexis? It's pretty similar.

KrasiTime · 07/02/2023 09:31

The thing with Alexandra it’s a proper name IYSWIM. It can be a stand alone name which has options when older. Also has plenty of NN - I know an Alex, Lexie, Zandra & a Sandy.

LeilaGetTheHose · 07/02/2023 09:10

Zara.

Alexandra sounds pretentious.

Rauha · 07/02/2023 09:08

Zara

dustydewdrop · 07/02/2023 09:07

I would just go for Lexi if that’s what you were going to shorten it to anyway. I don’t get the point in using a name with the intent of shortening it. Love Zara, it’s very classy.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 07/02/2023 09:04

Another vote for Zara, it’s lovely.

Alexa is unusable - agreed

Consufed · 07/02/2023 08:50

Zara is a lovely name.

WinterFoxes · 07/02/2023 08:48

Not Alexa because of Amazon. I dislike Lexi but only because I kn ew a revolting one in my teens. It's probably quite a nice name really.

Alexandra nn Sacha or Alex is gorgeous imo. Zara is also beautiful.

PuttingDownRoots · 07/02/2023 08:47

I know a young Alexis. Or how about Alica?

BrutusMcDogface · 07/02/2023 08:39

I agree with Zara (gorgeous) or Alexandra with the nickname Lexi. I couldn’t use Alexa now, which is a massive shame but there you go.

SnowAndFrostOutside · 07/02/2023 08:37

Zara or Alexandra. You can call yours Echo but everyone else's are Alexa.

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 07/02/2023 08:33

Alexandra nn Lexi.
That's my preference anyway, never been keen on Zara.

Alexa is unusable now.

they have their Echo set to respond to 'Echo'. You can also choose 'computer'

You can choose other names, but it's not about OP and her family; most people just stick to Alexa, and that's pretty much what everyone calls the device, so it'd be like calling your daughter Laptop.

Weegie91 · 07/02/2023 08:24

What about Alexis?

Choconuts · 07/02/2023 08:20

I went to school with an Alexei which is similar

KrasiTime · 07/02/2023 08:18

I wouldn’t use Alexa. How about Alexia? Or as pp said Alexandra. I love Zara.

Beeb00p · 07/02/2023 08:15

Thanks everyone. We have been set on Zara for a while but I’d like an alternative ready so we can decide when we meet her

I did read that Zara went up to number 16 last year so abit of a surge in popularity?
