Max
Otis
Frank
Ted

in that order :)

Billslills · 03/02/2023 09:55

Otis :-)

Twoinapod · 03/02/2023 08:57

I love Ted but it is popular if that puts you off. People saying Otis is popular but it’s really not in comparison to the others where you have various longer names shortened to frank, max and Ted.

Frank is so harsh and Max just makes me think of a dog.

Id go for Otis is you want something less popular or Ted if popularity doesn’t bother you.

I work in 2 schools, DC go to a third and youngest DC is at a separate preschool. So I know lots of kids.

There are more Teds/Teddys than I can count, which may not matter to you (not everyone cares) but it would put me off.

I know just one Frank who suits his name perfectly. I think it's a great choice!

I know 2 children called Max. Not my favourite name but certainly not a bad name and not too common.

I don't know any kids called Otis. I'm a mega Otis Redding fan so I do love this name and I think it's a great choice even without the musical connection. I'm aware that it's the name of a Netflix character currently so maybe the uptick in usage is not yet visible in preschool age and above. Perhaps in a few years there will be lots at school. It wasn't a top 100 name last year though so I wouldn't say it's likely to suddenly become as commonly used as Oliver, Jack etc.

Otis

The others are a little boring

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 02/02/2023 20:49

Love Ted & Frank

Loopzy · 02/02/2023 15:20

Frank is lovely!

AuntieSoap · 02/02/2023 15:16

All good names! Wait until he's born and see what he looks like.

thetrees · 02/02/2023 14:50

Max.

User6761 · 02/02/2023 14:49

Definitely Max!

PinkSyCo · 02/02/2023 14:38

Love Ted, but it’s getting too common now. Otis is horrible and again too common. Max is ok, but more suitable for a dog than a human. Frank is just awful quite Frankly.

Mxflamingnoravera · 02/02/2023 14:35

Frank is my son's name, he loves it, says it's "solid" and often gets positive comments from others about his name. He was Frankie when he was little BC is Francis. It's a family name, oldest son in both my and my ex's family were named Francis (we didn't know this when we chose it).

Whydoitry · 02/02/2023 14:31

Frank. I know too many Max and Teds, and dislike Otis - it makes me think of halitosis (sorry).

Ted (but Edward on cert)

Why not Stephen or Theodore on the birth certificate... or Nedward Grin

I guess I don't see Ned as a natural shortening of Edward!

ALS94 · 02/02/2023 14:25

Otis 100%

Frank is too blunt
Max and Ted sound like dog names

Whatwouldyoudo32 · 02/02/2023 14:21

Frank with the full name Francis is lovely

Beamur · 02/02/2023 12:44

Frank

DuchessOfSausage · 02/02/2023 12:43

Max or Frank
Otis is awful

IhearyouClemFandango · 02/02/2023 11:47

Ted (but Edward on cert)

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/02/2023 11:46

Max

Quite like Otis but it’s a bit faddy

Quite like Frank but mainly as nn for Francis

Ted I really don’t think works as a full name - too close to Teddy. He may not thank you. I think it has to be Edward (or something) on the birth cert)

GreenLeopard1 · 02/02/2023 08:51

Ted

Wombat222 · 02/02/2023 08:50

All great - Max or Otis!

tobi21 · 02/02/2023 08:31

Otis

Greenfairydust · 02/02/2023 08:27

Otis. Love that name.

elm26 · 02/02/2023 08:21

Max for me!

I love Ted but it's my dogs name 😂♥️
