Are Fraser and Foster to similar?

I have a DS Fraser and DD Darcie
currently looking at names for baby number 3 and me and DP can’t decide on many names that we both like. The only one we both like at the moment is Foster-Jude but after discussing it with my parents they said that Foster and Fraser were way to similar. We kind of see where they are coming from but think they are different enough.
We have no other name options if baby number 3 is a boy and don’t know what to do

Don't call them Foster. He won't thank you for it.

I don't think Foster works as a first name and introducing your son, Foster, would end up sounding like your foster son.

I'm not keen on Forest but it's a similar sound and fits your bizarre requirement that a name has 6 letters

Happylove1 · 30/01/2023 17:08

i wasn’t sure on hyphenating but DP really liked it (most likely will use it as a middle name).
DP’s family have a tradition that the boys names have to be 6 letters long so DP said he wants a 6 letter name for baby number 3 (we also did it for Darcie and that’s why we went for the ie spelling)

Foster has always been my favourite name since I was a child and I’ve always wanted to use it but DP didn’t like it when I was pregnant with Fraser so we agreed on that. I know the names start and end the same but I thought that they sounded different enough especially with Fraser often going by Fraze
and I don’t love many other 6 letter names at the moment

(Plus foster is a ridiculous and rather depressing first name)

EzzieM · 30/01/2023 17:04

Well obviously yes.

You must have more imagination than this? I have faith in you OP!

Way too similar, people will mix them up constantly. Even you probably. Jude on its own is nice.

musicandpassion · 30/01/2023 17:01

Jude is lovely and goes nicely with Fraser and Darcie.
I'm not keen on Foster-Jude. I don't think the two hyphenate well together.
I agree with your parents though, I do think Fraser and Foster are too similar.

BungleandGeorge · 30/01/2023 17:00

Yes too similar and foster-Jude is not good imo. Just go for Jude?

CastleTower · 30/01/2023 16:57

For brothers, yes.

How about just Jude, if you like it?
