Little boy. We have heritage of Polish, Persian and English and i cant decide which way to go!. Surname is Iranian starting with k.

-Rayan jude or Rayaan Jude (better reflects how its pronounced)

-Tomasz Jude

-Miles Jude

Which out of those if you had to pick?

Rayaan- with "aan" ending.

Rauha · 29/01/2023 10:59

Tomasz

FayCarew · 29/01/2023 10:52

If he is half Polish, quarter Iranian and a quarter British, then I'd use Tomasz.
A completely iranian name might be too much if he is going to be brought up in a more european way, and don't know if I'm right but there may not always be good feelings about Iran.

TrashyPanda · 29/01/2023 10:46

Tomasz

love it

Ellmau · 29/01/2023 09:55

I like the idea of representing all his heritage, and with the surname being Persian and you living here, I would go with the Polish first name.

Why not Tomasz Miles? Is there a special reason for Jude as the mn as you've put that for all three?

Coxspurplepippin · 29/01/2023 00:16

And a photo would probably help us decide......... Grin

Coxspurplepippin · 29/01/2023 00:15

All of your choices are great. Probably Tomasz, Rayaan, Miles in order

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 29/01/2023 00:11

Rayan Franciszek

Aleksander Rayan

unvillage · 28/01/2023 21:42

I don't think Rayaan needs a nickname. It's a beautiful name. I like Tomasz and Miles too but Rayaan is lovely, I've known children also with the spelling Reyan/Reyaan pronounced the same which perhaps helps with the pronunciation? Appreciate that might not be the Persian way of spelling it.

Reallybadatdecisions · 28/01/2023 19:03

Thank you all

Rayan is lovely when pronounced correctly....I guess the nickname his friends would call him would be ray? which maybe is a bit grandad like?

Tomasz is pronounced with a 'sh' at the end.. I guess he might default to Tom when he's older which would make me a tad sad as I like the full polish name...its my family thats polish, husband is half iranian

Some of you made a point that maybe I need to have a name from each aspect of his heritage in there and now I think of it I would be sad to have no classic polish name in the mix (middle name would be fine)

He's two weeks old so I need to really make a decision and this post has helped!

Will his surname be Polish or Persian? It might be fairest to choose the other for his first name.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 28/01/2023 13:02

Tomasz

everythingsapickle · 28/01/2023 12:58

Tomasz Jude ❤️
Rayaan second
Not Miles

FayCarew · 28/01/2023 12:25

The suggested first names are all ok. My favourite is Miles. Is Tomacz said as Tomash or Tomas?

Is it Iranian father, half-polish half-english mother? I'd be inclined to use a non-iranian first name to reflect the other heritages, especially if the DC is going to be brought up in a non-traditional way

ANewDayDawned · 28/01/2023 12:18

And yes Rayaan to be clear not a misspelled ryan

ANewDayDawned · 28/01/2023 12:18

Rayan- lovely

Pinkdafodils · 28/01/2023 12:10

Rayan/Rayaan is the best of your options in the op but will get misheard for Ryan all the time, which is a shame.

Not if it's spelled and pronounced Rayaan. It's a great name and sounds very different to Ryan

VenusClapTrap · 28/01/2023 11:56

If you’ve got the heritage to use Persian names I would totally go for Darius or Cyrus! I love those names.

Rayan/Rayaan is the best of your options in the op but will get misheard for Ryan all the time, which is a shame.

Rayan I think.

Tomasz will be a lifetime of "no h, yes a z on the end, no as well as the a. , because that's how it's spelt"

Miles is middle aged, middle class boring man.

legalalien · 28/01/2023 11:19

or of course you could make all branches of the family happy and go for something like Adrian, with multiple cultural links!

Pinkdafodils · 28/01/2023 11:01

Rayaan is lovely!

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/01/2023 11:00

Tomasz Jude

Lovely name and he has the option to be Tom to keep it simple, and with an Iranian surname you are reflecting all of his heritage

89redballoons · 28/01/2023 10:07

I know a Darius, which works in English and Persian (I think?) and is Dariusz (DA-ree-oosh) in Polish.

Of your three names I actually like Miles the most, though.

MollyMunster · 28/01/2023 09:13

Rayaan and Tomasz are nice, it seems a shame not to honour his heritage at all.

Aren’t there any names that work in both languages? Jakub, or Yusuf? It would be nice to have a name common to both

Fivebeanchilli · 28/01/2023 09:04

I like Jude the most - is there any chance of using that as the first name?
I like Rayaan given that it fits with the surname but there are a lot of Rayaans in my area with no cultural links to Iran/Persian heritage. It's popular for girls too. In my area it has a slightly "rough" connotation.
Tomasz is nice.
Miles is lovely too.
It's hard to pick - they are all great.
I assume the surname is his dad's so you are the one with Polish heritage? I guess it depends how important it is to you that that's reflected in your child's name as the surname already reflects one of the cultures.
