Final shortlist - girls names

Thanks to everyone who responded to my other thread (on the name Ella). We’ve now narrowed down our list to the names below.

Which one would you pick?

Elsie
Eliza
Ella (this was our original favourite but getting cold feet)
Phoebe
Zoe

Also like Elena. How would you pronounce this? Eh-lay-na? Eh-len-ah? Another way?

really dislike Zoe, seems very 90's

I like them all except Phoebe (no particular reason, just don't personally like how it sounds!) but I would choose Zoe since El- names are so common at the moment! There seems to be so many girls called Ella, Ellie, Elsie, Elodie etc and I think Zoe stands out more. But if you do want an 'El' name, I would go for Elizabeth since then she'll have the choice of what to call herself and could go by Ella, Elsie etc.
I would probably say Elena as el-AY-na but also know people called 'el-EH-na' (Bulgarian) and 'EL-eh-na' (Italian) so would be unsure which pronunciation to go for!

Elizabella looks like a mishmash of Elizabeth and Isabella and too many ELs

Love all of your choices OP...particularly like Eliza and Ella.

If I were to rank them (even though I like them all!) I'd have Eliza, Ella, Zoe, Elsie, Elena, Phoebe.

I'd say Elena 'E-leena' just because the two I know say it that way.

Love Eliza and Ella best and really like Zoe and Phoebe.
Elsie is sweet but not as smart.

Elena - ELL-eh-nuh. Lovely name.
I also love Gabriella and Ellinor.

Eliza - also pretty
Ella - lovely name but extremely common, there would probably be at least one other in her class
Phoebe - nice name, quite common
Zoe - beautiful. My favourite of your list.
Elena - I would pronounce it El-en-ah but I did know an el-ee-nah

Love Elena. With the LAY sound, like the German pronunciation of Helena. Lena and Leni as nicknames also have the long A. I suppose it's like Alaina/Laini/Lainey.

I would go for Elena with the nickname Leni personally.

If not that, then Eliza.

Ella is over used and now is a common dogs name as well.

I really like Phoebe it was on our list.
I would say if Ella is your favourite name then I would go for it, who cares if it's a bit more popular, doesn't necessarily mean she'll come across another one as there are so many varied names these days. Why should your daughter be denied the name because other people have used it too

Elsie - too frilly
Eliza - my personal fave
Ella (this was our original favourite but getting cold feet) - nice but feels a bit incomplete to me
Phoebe - okay
Zoe - second fave

Elsie - Quite cutesy, might not be well-liked as a teen
Eliza - I like this but I would put Elizabeth on the birth certificate and use Eliza as a nickname
Ella (this was our original favourite but getting cold feet) - I like this too, popular but that wouldn’t put me off
Phoebe - not so keen, honestly can only think of Phoebe Buffay
Zoe - I like this one the best

Elena - I would pronounce as El - ay - na. Not so keen on this name.

Elena I would pronounce EH leh na
If you like Eh LAY na you could always spell it Elaina? - there would be no confusion with pronunciation as it’s literally Elaine with an a instead of e :)

Zoe is beautiful and timeless, Eliza is lovely too.

Quite like Phoebe and Ella too (although Ella is very popular, maybe that's what put you off?)

Elsie is the only one I don't like, very old-ladyish. Elise is nice though, as a pp suggested. Or Elsa.
