Could you give me your thoughts on the French name Lilou?

We are thinking Chloe Lilou. Or maybe Sienna Lilou, Savannah Lilou.

It's pronounced lee-loo.

Any similar names you can suggest to Chloe and Lilou (in style not necessarily sound)?

Thanks

Makes me think of Fifth Element which I like.

There’s a girl in my daughters class called Lilu and pronounced like your name, I think her parents are from Ukraine. It’s a lovely name.

Are you in France? Only because in the UK I think the pronunciation would be more 'lil loo' rather than 'lee lou'.

But it's a middle name so possibly not an issue.

God I think it’s awful - sorry - makes me think of loos and wee and beyond that it sounds like a name for a pet poodle.

This is so immature; it sounds like an eight year old wrote this.

However if it’s only a middle name..

I think if I heard it I'd have thought it was Lila but it's a pretty name and as middle names are rarely used I'd not be too concerned about what other people think

puttingontheritz · 27/01/2023 07:25

It's really popular in France. Lots of similar names are too. I quite like it, but as I say there are lots if Lilous, teenage sort of age. Louane, Louna, and variants on Lily are popular too.

We have friends who call their daughter that name. I quite like it, but I’ve not come across it otherwise.
