Which do you prefer? Middle name will likely be Jean.

Matilda Jean
Margot Jean

only thing putting me off Matilda is that I don’t like Tilly as a nickname. Not sure is Margot Jean sounds right together though.

Thank you!!

Margot

In French that would be pronounced Marge-O

Could it be Margaux?

Yep. Margeaux is most definitely pronounced differently from Margot/Margaux. There's a jo sound in there.

I prefer Margot, though also prefer the Margeaux spelling as the one I know spells it that way and I like longer names.

I used to like Matilda but it's so overused in my area now (midlands) it's dull as dishwater

I like both. Margot is a bit too popular for me ATM though.
I love Matty at a nn for Matilda.

Matilda sounds much nicer

Margot is just a letter away from maggot

Twoinapod · 26/01/2023 21:30

I know one Tilly, one Tilda and one Matty. You don’t have to shorten it at all, although they may get one at school anyway.

matilda is much nicer than Margot and flows better with Jean

PritiPatelsMaker · 26/01/2023 20:49

How about Tilda or Mat as a NN? To be honest though, you don't really have any control over what their friends call them once they get to school.
