L middle name for Delilah

Basically that. After we’d chosen Delilah DH mentioned he would like baby to have the same initials as his mum as one of our other children has my mums name.

I’m drawing a blank, Delilah is already quite L heavy so think it needs to be a shorter name. Any suggestions?

My top contender was Loveday but DH not keen

Delilah Louise is the only suggestion so far that sounds reasonably nice!

Loveday would be perfect. What a name.
I think Delilah Louise flows well. Maybe Lois?
Delilah Lois.

One syllable names I can think of:
Lou
Leigh
Lise/ Lis (Danish/Scandi)
Laine

I would perhaps caution against an L middle name. What if your child has a speech impediment where she has difficulty with Ls? Ls are quite difficult for children even without any speech problems. She could end up saying it Dewiwah. If she has a different middle name at least she will be able to say one of them.
I used to work in a special education school and this came up rather a lot. It's obviously much less common in mainstream schools but it really made me think when I named my own DC.

Bagofmaltesers · 25/01/2023 17:01

I know you say you have your heart seton Delilah, but could I suggest that you reread the story of Delilah to make sure you are happy with your choice. If it’s definitely Delilah, and if middle name must start with L, I would go for Delilah Louise.

Egmeg · 25/01/2023 16:57

Delilah Laine

I agree with the choice Delilah Louise, very pretty and melodic.

WashableVelvet · 25/01/2023 16:54

Really want to know what MIL’s first and middle name are if both are so awful they couldn’t even be a middle name as too much burden on the child 😂
I can only think of Fanny or Titty that would be that bad, both of which are short for quite nice names.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 25/01/2023 16:54

I just saw that I x-posted with somebody who clearly disagrees with my thinking on Delilah Lily!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 25/01/2023 16:52

It and her middle name are sadly awful and even she said you couldn’t burden a child with it

Is her middle name Lettice?!

I think anything beginning with L is going to make the name into a tongue-twister, when coupled with Delilah. Maybe not with something similar like Delia, but it depends how set you are on Delilah. Whatever you do, I'd go for a one-syllable middle name if possible - and definitely not Lily!

Peridot1 · 25/01/2023 16:50

I was going to say Louise too. I think Delilah Louise flows really nicely.

lunathestral · 25/01/2023 16:49

Delilah Lilly sounds really pretty

Yika · 25/01/2023 16:48

Delilah Louise is lovely because of the way the stress falls on the second syllable of Louise.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 25/01/2023 16:48

Laurette

What is DH's mum's name? Couldn't you use it? If another child has your mum's name it seems a fitting choice to use his mum's name unless it's something awful!
