Names you've stopped yourself from using

When pregnant with my son I flirted with the idea of calling him Kerouac after the writer Jack Kerouac. We didn't go with Jack as he has a cousin very close in age with that name.

I stopped myself from calling him Kerouac and stuck with a sensible name which I also love.

I'm pregnant again and still considering Kerouac if it's another boy! My sensible side will win through. Especially as the name would sound daft next to his brother's traditional name.

Which names have you been very tempted to use but stopped yourself?

Genevieve. Lots of nn combos!

But it's the name of DH's ex, so it was out.

Nico -loved it but we have zero Italian heritage which I think would’ve been the assumption. Baby has also ended up blonde haired and blue eyed so I don’t think it would’ve suited him at all.
Kit - was actually a front runner until I realised that combined with my nn we would’ve ended up a certain chocolate biscuit 😂

Atticus

It's just too much for where I live.

Funnily enough I'd considered Scout for a girl. I also like Ptolemy but I've seen that's actually gaining popularity!

Reminds me of when my mum phoned to suggest we use Jacques for our firstborn. "It's just like Jack, but fancier" she said, whilst I pissed myself laughing.

Aw! I love this Grin

I love the name Arabella but we already have a very "posh" sounding surname (even thought we aren't) that I thought I was asking for trouble putting them together.

For boys I loved Phoenix but I didn't think we could get away with a non-mainstream name so our short list was more of the Daniel, Matthew spectrum. In the end we had a DD so it didn't matter.
