Max alliteration

I’m going in circles and returning here over and over again. I also sort of asked this a couple of months ago - sorry, didn’t quite get clarity.

Max Marshall - yes or no?

Feel free to give one word answers - I realise the alliteration is either loved or hated! I’m going to tot up the votes because I just cannot decide.

Yes I honestly did! It makes me think of an undercover superhero, which is a good thing I think!

I know a max alliterative surname and I love it!

Thanks! But do you think “woah, awesome” when you hear it?! I don’t want anything too bold!

Allegra82 · 23/01/2023 22:46

Not at all. Everyone has loved the name. But most importantly my husband and I do.

Allegra82 · 23/01/2023 22:43

I’m a yes.
I also have a Max M
Plus I’m also an MM

Oh great! Did you get any strong reactions to the Max M?

@Wombat222 Yes 😂 Apologies phone battery died! Was going to say that it also sounds like MacSmarshall to me - but I’m definitely in the minority on this thread and I probably have a terrible accent... Love the name Max so go for it!

It’s a yes from me either way but just curious

@ZoyaTheDestroyer , Matins and Martins sound the same when we say it. It's regional.

Oh interesting! I’m NW myself and haven’t heard this but gd to know

The ending of Max runs into the M of Marshall - Mac Smarahall.

This happens less with names ending in consonants for example Reuben Marshall

hiredandsqueak · 23/01/2023 20:16

Because it sounds clunky. Dsis has a son with an alliterative name as his Dad does and his Grandfather and none of them flow even though they all have different first names.

hiredandsqueak · 23/01/2023 19:40

Max has always been a name I've loved but couldn't use because because of he M surname so for me it's a no.

But why couldn't you use it with an M surname? Genuinely curious! One of my kids has the same initial in their first and surname, and a few friends and friends kids do too. I've never heard this being a thing that you shouldn't do!

DuchessOfSausage · 23/01/2023 19:37

I can't think of anyone famous with my accent. I don't particularly think I have one but am told I do. Max Marshall sounds a bit of a tongue twister and sounds like MacSmarshall.

If OP likes it then don't let me put her off. I know a few Mark Mc[surname]s but despite Mark and Mac sounding very similar - in my accent - I generally like the names.

Helpnoname · 23/01/2023 19:24

Max Marshall is a great name! Do it!

SignOnTheWindow · 23/01/2023 19:16

Cool name. Do it!

I am NW born and bred and really struggling to hear this! Can you give me an example of someone famous with the same accent, please? I am driving myself mad!

Great name combo, OP.

oviraptor21 · 23/01/2023 19:08

I'm a no.
The x ending going on to the M surname is a bit of a mouthful.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 23/01/2023 18:34

And like I said, I’m taking your word for it Smile

DuchessOfSausage · 23/01/2023 18:16

@ZoyaTheDestroyer , but Liverpool and Manchester is not all of the NW.
They won't sound the same in many accents but they sound similar in mine.

ShesThunderstorms · 23/01/2023 18:00

Absolutely yes. Why would it be a no? I don't understand!

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 23/01/2023 17:54

I’ll take your word for it. I grew up in Liverpool and spend a lot of time in Manchester and Bury so I’m more familiar than most with the accents and dialects of NW England but that’s a new one on me.
