Alone and no one to discuss names with...

lonelymummy22 · 21/01/2023 17:05

Would you be kind enough to discuss them with me?

Single parent, no family close. Baby girl expected very soon!

Names I like

Claudia
Romilly
Morgan
Hero
Wendy

All very different. Surname will be a double barrelled one, 3 syllables all up.

Please be kind as I feel pathetic having no one to help me.

Love Claudia and Romilly. Do like Hero but feel it’s a bold move. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

BumblebeeWest · 21/01/2023 17:47

P.S. Sorry to hear you’re so alone in your situation. Speaking from (possibly similar) experience, it can be very hard. I hope you have a supportive midwife and are able to get all the additional support you can. Please do DM if you need to - I can’t promise to answer straight away, but will do my best to be at least a bit helpful x

BumblebeeWest · 21/01/2023 17:46

Romilly is lovely.

I’m also slightly predisposed towards Wendy because I’ve known two wonderful, interesting, strong women called Wendy, and I’ve never met a horrible one.

BasiliskStare · 21/01/2023 17:45

@lonelymummy22 I love Stella as a name - & I think that would have been my choice - it is very classic . But your daughter your choice. She will be her name , whatever. All the very very best to you 💐

teachermummyme · 21/01/2023 17:40

How exciting! I wish you all the best of luck.
From your list, I love Claudia and Romilly. Also agree that Hero makes a good middle name if you wanted to use that also.

Twoinapod · 21/01/2023 17:29

@YukoandHiro i must be 😂 to me it’s in the same realm as Sandy, Terry, Tony, Keith. I’d be surprised to hear it on anyone under 40/50.

YukoandHiro · 21/01/2023 17:26

@Twoinapod you're behind the times - there's a Wendy at my DD's nursery and another at my eldest's school. I was a bit surprised, I must admit.

YukoandHiro · 21/01/2023 17:25

From your list I love Romilly and Morgan. Very strong names.

lonelymummy22 · 21/01/2023 17:24

Not sure Cassia is my cup of tea.

I love Stella though!

Are Morgan and Wendy Welsh names? I'm not from Wales so no idea.

I do think Wendy isn't quite due a revival yet, agree there. I just love the film Peter Pan.

Congratulations! Claudia and Romilly are gorgeous both as full names and with Claude and Milly as nicknames.

BrutusMcDogface · 21/01/2023 17:24

I was going to say Romilly and I see I’m not alone!

congratulations and hope all goes well 😊

dew141 · 21/01/2023 17:22

Romilly is lovely and my favourite from your list. I don't like the 'clawed' sound in Claudia. Do you like Cassia? It's a gorgeous name.

Yes - Cassia is really lovely

Oooh Cassia Hero would be really lovely

FredinBread · 21/01/2023 17:21

Love Romilly

....would like Claudia but I kniw 2 people who is say it Cloud-ia and 1 girl who was Claude- ia so the confusion puts me off

Other 3 seem a bit out there for me....im guessing Morgan and Wendy are big in Wales but may be a big stereotype sorry!

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/01/2023 17:21

Congratulations!

Claudia for me - lovely name

Romilly is nice too, but quite of the moment and less elegant

Hero - nice but hard to live with. Hera?

Morgan - the idea of it is better than the reality which is a more rugby than Arthurian sorceress - Merryn, Jocelyn, Ffion, Arran, Catrin, might be alternatives

Wendy I think is wet - Zoe maybe?

FairytaleofNewHampshire · 21/01/2023 17:19

Congratulations.
The first three names are all lovely, you could wait until the birth and see if one in particular seems to suit her better.

BasiliskStare · 21/01/2023 17:19

For what it is worth I like Romilly the best , Hero second. Had DS been a girl at the time I would have gone for Hero or Stella (Dh wanted Georgia ) But I do think Romilly is a lovely name,

I love Romilly Hero Smile congrats!

lonelymummy22 · 21/01/2023 17:18

Thank you everyone. I thought it would be nice being able to pick whatever I want but I'm finding it hard having no one to talk about it with.

Romilly I had on my list very early on and I like Milly as a nn.
