I have 3 children and they all had names I almost called them

first baby - Rex
original choices were Herbie for a boy and Polly for a girl.

second baby - Indie
Ozzy for a boy and Elora/ Orla for a girl

third baby - Orla
Hugo for a boy and Orla for a girl although I did also toy with the idea of Izzy too for a bit

also always loved Heidi, Hattie and Honey but couldn't pass the dad test

Have an DS called Owen (9)

Wanted Lawrence or Seth for a boy. Both vetoed by DH.

We went through what felt like hundreds of boys names before we got one we agreed on. In contrast, we had two choices for a girl, Martha and Alice, and we agreed on those almost immediately.

Chocolateismyfavourite · 16/01/2023 20:53

They would have been

Esme
Oscar
Harry
Logan

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 16/01/2023 20:45

Kirby for a boy (although I believe it’s actually a girls’ name) or Holly for a girl. He’s actually called Holly without the H 😂.

ThatshallotBaby · 16/01/2023 20:26

Honor
Rafael
Fabian
My choices
Olivia
Robert
John
Dh’s choices
actual dc are called none of these names Grin

mackerelskymackerelsky · 16/01/2023 16:55

Marigold, Sage, and Bramble.

Would have suited them all but way, waaaayyy too hippy for my DH.

I'm still sad I didn't insist on them for middle names.

ineedastrongercoffee · 16/01/2023 16:47

I had twin girls but my choices for boys were

Alexander
Gabriel
Jerry
Arthur
Albert

I absolutely loved Gabriel but I got such mixed reactions to it

CoffeeChocolateWine · 16/01/2023 16:41

If I had had my first choices, my DC would be called Luke, Erin and Tess. DH liked Luke but we ruled it out because it didn't go with our surname. Erin and Tess he just vetoed as he didn't like them.

Tbh, the names we went with were my choices that he came round to. His choices were awful - his answer to your question would be Jared, Denise and Marnie (I actually quite liked Marnie but we already had an 'M' name and didn't want the same initial!)

SnowAndIceLobelia · 16/01/2023 16:33

DH wanted Tobermory for DS1. I quite liked it. But in the end we named him after a much loved newly-deceased family member. And I am very pleased about that because it still feels special 13 years on. I had no main boy names i was fixated on.

I wanted Leveret for a girl. i still adore it.

Millionaireshortbread0 · 16/01/2023 16:28

Ds1 George (didn't go with our surname)
Dd1 Freya
Ds2 William (someone became headline news called William our surname not in a bad way but just felt wrong then so last minute change)

illiterato · 16/01/2023 16:15

Jean-Baptiste. We are not French. Vetoed by DH. Probably a good thing.

Burgerqueenbee · 16/01/2023 16:13

Kitty and Byron, if I had 2 of the same sex I likely could have used them but I know they aren't for everyone!

Mumofgirls2017 · 16/01/2023 15:59

Eldest was nearly Clara- she was/is a bit too spunky for it!

next was nearly wren or willow- glad as she is now the chubbiest giant 2yo you’ve ever seen

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 16/01/2023 10:21

Matilda and Barnaby. DH vetoed both.

Yes my DH vetoed one of those names. I still pine for it as it matches DD1’s name beautifully and just ticked all the boxes for me. The one we both agreed on, whilst it’s still lovely, doesn’t quite give me the same feels. Might have to console myself with giving it to a pet instead!

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 16/01/2023 10:21

Matilda and Barnaby. DH vetoed both.

WandaWonder · 16/01/2023 10:10

I did not do the naming my kids until I was pregnant thing (nothing wrong with it! Just didn't do it myself)

But I think I had Heidi in the back of my head too

Deadringer · 16/01/2023 10:04

Kerry, Pearse, Shauna. Don't regret not using them. I do regret not using my mums name for one of my dds though.

LightHousePanda · 16/01/2023 10:00

My top boy's name was Alexander but my husband had friends called that and it got vetoed. We went for Alasdair which I actually like better now - less popular and we have a Scottish connection. It's also just the gaelic version of Alexander.

I really liked Clarrisa and Lucinda but they were vetoed too. Don't have a girl so not sure if I would have chosen one of them.
