How and when did this become an actual name?

We've a Raine, it's a beautiful name.

The only Reign I know of is the Kardashian one.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 11/01/2023 11:25

Didn't see that thread but I hope someone suggested his next child could be called Eel.

I don't know if you're into knitting at all, but traditional Catalonian sheep farms produce the finest Ele Yarn which is perfect for making snug winter jumpers Grin

Lee Ryan has a son called Rayn. I'm pretty sure that there was a thread on here when he was born, pointing out that Rayn is an anagram of Ryan and giving suggestions for future children's names.

pp’s saying Raine - this, at least imo, is used as a nn for Lorraine :) Reign or Rain/Rainn would be standalone I suppose.

fairycupcakes · 11/01/2023 10:08

I like it. Reign is obviously a more regal association than Rain/Rainn for example but I think both are great. Definitely not too “out there” when you consider some names these days! 🤭

I first noticed it a few years back when Kourtney Kardashian named her son Reign Aston. I think its popularity is almost certainly down to celebrities.

Raine for a girl is much older though - think Princess Diana's stepmother.

ChimChimeny · 10/01/2023 06:54

Kourtney Kardashian has a soon called Reign. That's enough to put me off 😂

BCBird · 10/01/2023 06:27

Jermajesty🙄why inflict a child with a questionable name. Suppose the money cushions it a bit.

Not so regal if it’s pronounced to rhyme with vagina.

I think it's pronounced Reg ee na!
(So a bit like Georgina)

Regina Phalange!

You’re right, it’s an “ee” not “I” sound in the middle but just the spelling of it makes me think vagina!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/01/2023 23:14

'Reighn' just looks like the sound of somebody clearing their throat - with the absence of resulting greenage not guaranteeable.

AnnaBegins · 09/01/2023 23:10

A relative of mine has just named their baby daughter Reighn. Pronounced Rain/Reign. They can't spell, they intended it to be "like the queen". If they'd gone with Rain, I think my judgy pants would have been less hoiked.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/01/2023 22:58

I've heard of someone with a child called 'Reignier'.

I can well imagine him being known as Rudolph!

You mean Grace Kelly's husband, Prince Rainier.

Yes I probably misheard it.

I know a Regina. That might work if you're looking for something regal?

I taught a Reign a couple of years ago..

DuchessOfSausage · 09/01/2023 20:32

Rein it it!

Dotcheck · 09/01/2023 17:49

I think Rein is a Dutch name.

thepatronsaintofbubblewrap · 09/01/2023 17:38

I've heard of someone with a child called 'Reignier'. It's said to be a name of the Prince of Monaco from what I remember being told

Unicorn2022 · 09/01/2023 17:33

I think Louis Tomlinson's son is Freddie Reign, that was the first I have heard of it being used as a name.

youngestisapsycho · 09/01/2023 17:11

A Kardashian has a son with that name I think… I also know someone here in Uk with a son named Reign. He is under 2.
