Anyone else been surprised at what people in their lives have called their children?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Snood?!

I've got friends with baby girls called Doris and Ethel, and baby boys called Frank and Ralph, and every time I see them (they are adorable, as are all babies) I think they wouldn't be out of place in a residential care home for the elderly.

Names go in and out of fashion though, and I must admit, I prefer 'real' names to unique new names.

Ha ha, my husbands family names after family members and they are the same. I have stunningly beautiful neices with old lady names. Each to their own, although much prefer a unique name to something that is not original at all that everyone has eg Hugo, Olivia etc by unique I just mean not the usual, not just weird made up names

Oh, you don't wear a cardigan round your neck 😂 ignore mine!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/01/2023 19:30

I'm guessing Hat. I've met a few little Hats (Harriets I suppose).

Bananarama21 · 08/01/2023 19:29

Noone has mentioned the name yet.

Eranzer · 08/01/2023 19:29

Cardigan!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/01/2023 19:29

No, without exception my family and friends have chosen lovely but totally unsurprising names (including me). I've heard some real corkers, but I'm disappointed nobody close to me has gone rogue when choosing a name.

AnotherNameChangeYes · 08/01/2023 19:29

Yes one of the children in the family has a ridiculous name, hes named after an item of clothing. I feel sorry for him as all the other kids in the family have normal names even his brother. When I've mentioned his name in passing to people always ask me to repeat the name.

Kaftan?
