Just wondering.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It looks like a version of the name I am less familiar with.
If I was writing the name I would assume it was spelt Eleanor, but I don't think Elinor looks misspelt

RoseAndRose · 04/01/2023 17:12

No

perfectly normal spelling

I love the name Elin but it is pronounced Ee lyn so for me Elinor is a different name to Eleanor.

Not in Wales. It's a popular Welsh name and it's pronounced ELL-in.
Elinor isn't Welsh, but does get used as a welsh name.

FriedasCarLoad · 04/01/2023 16:55

It's the traditional English spelling. 'Eleanor' is French. I'm always pleased when British people use the older English spelling!

Rainbowshit · 04/01/2023 16:54

Looks fine to me. I like it.

Ruffpuff · 04/01/2023 16:50

It’s a Welsh spelling. It’s not spelt wrong.

electricmoccasins · 04/01/2023 16:49

Both spellings of the name are ‘Austen-approved’:

Elinor Dashwood
Eleanor Tilney

Both are beautiful

NotMyFinestMoment · 04/01/2023 16:22

Yes. Eleanor.

Speedweed · 04/01/2023 16:02

Not at all - it's a beautiful spelling.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 04/01/2023 16:02

No, but I'm a Chalet School fan!

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 04/01/2023 16:02

Elinor and Eleanor both equally standard spelling to me.
In the first I'd pronounce the I, el-IN-ore. In the second I'd pronounce the E, el-E(a)N-or. So I guess it depends how you want it pronounced.

TallulahBetty · 04/01/2023 15:59

No, because I know it's Welsh.

evemillbank · 04/01/2023 15:57

Yes

SunonmyFace · 04/01/2023 15:57

Queen Elinor is Merida’s Mum in Brave

IncompleteSenten · 04/01/2023 15:55

No. It's fine. I didn't know it was Welsh though. I thought it was french in origin.

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 04/01/2023 15:51

No - tt always makes me think of Sense and Sensibility

TheYearOfSmallThings · 04/01/2023 15:50

No. I grew up on the Chalet School books and I knew that spelling best.

DaphneFlower · 04/01/2023 15:49

No, as I've seen it spelled like that before eg. Sense and Sensibility

BelleNoir · 04/01/2023 15:48

Yes

Reugny · 04/01/2023 15:47

No

Seen it spelt that way before.

RambamThankyouMam · 04/01/2023 15:45

Yes.

It sounds like a medication.

Flabbyghasted · 04/01/2023 15:44

Nope, although I am Welsh. Same with Elin. Prefer both to Ellen and Eleanor

wouldukissafrog · 04/01/2023 15:42

No I doesn't and I prefer this spelling

lordloveadog · 04/01/2023 15:41

No, it's not an uncommon spelling. Pretty.

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 04/01/2023 15:41

I think of it as the more historical, older spelling of Eleanor, not sure why, maybe the books links as mentioned.
I think either version is pretty.
