Cora? Becoming popular?

I really like this name at the moment. Classy, known but I feel underused, still a little different. What do you think? Is it growing in popularity?

It sounds like a sleazy cockney geezer saying "Cor.... A -" and then some misogynistic slur about a woman.

That's exactly how I hear it too. All I can hear is Sid James....

Rocketpants50 · 11/05/2023 22:34

Nice name but always reminds me of the big French supermarkets.

Terryhalloffame · 11/05/2023 22:26

What about coralie?

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 09/05/2023 15:32

I like it. I know a little Cora but it's not widely popular or anything.

yarikq · 09/05/2023 12:19

I think it's nice. I don't think it's hugely popular (certainly not Ava/Amelia/Mia levels of popularity), but perhaps it varies based on area. I know a Coralie which I find to be a lovely name too.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 09/05/2023 07:24

Awful name. Makes me think of an apple corer. Cara is beautiful though.

Iwanderedlonelyasagoat · 09/05/2023 05:59

I live in an area of London which I would say has lots of kids named things which might then grow in popularity elsewhere. I've never heard of or met a baby cora. Ive also taught for 10+ years in a girls school and never met one. I absolutely love it.

TallerThanAverage · 09/05/2023 05:54

No from me. Im 52, went to school with a Cora, she was a right cow, horrible child,

Whatisityoucantface · 09/05/2023 05:48

I know two Cora’s, they’re both 3 years old
According to Nameberry it’s going to increase in popularity and is already top 100 in US

I only know one and I work in a school and see a lot of names!

I do see it mentioned on here a lot though so it's possible it's more popular but those kids aren't at school yet so I've not seen them

fairycupcakes · 23/04/2023 09:23

Sorry *more popular since Downton Abbey

fairycupcakes · 23/04/2023 09:23

I think it’s really pretty. Probably most popular since Downton Abbey as a PP has mentioned.
Also Cara & Clara :)

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 23/04/2023 00:45

I know of two under age 5, but I wouldn’t say it’s super popular. Lovely name.

notangelinajolie · 23/04/2023 00:31

Love Cora. Very cool and very Downton.
Not Cara.

Viviennemary · 23/04/2023 00:20

I quite like it although its unusual. I have never known a Cora.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 09/01/2023 03:15

To me, it's as far from 'pretty' as it's possible to get! Utterly frumpy and sounds like a kitchen implement.

TheOrigRights · 09/01/2023 03:08

Cora is the rather useless NatWest banking app chat bot.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 09/01/2023 03:08

Mexicola · 01/01/2023 21:57

It will be more popular since Downtown Abbey.

This

mathanxiety · 09/01/2023 03:02

Irish granny name.

I laughed when I saw it was the name of the Countess of Grantham on Downton Abbey. No way would an American heiress have been given the name of her family's scullery maid.

I know three little Coras in the US.

thatsmustard · 09/01/2023 02:11

I know 3 born in 2022

timetorefresh · 06/01/2023 07:51

Only ever taught one in 20 years and she was lovely

DurdleSnore · 06/01/2023 07:27

I love Cora. Also reminds me of Last of the Mohicans. I know a 5 year old Cora too!

SemperIdem · 05/01/2023 23:56

I know one, she’s 6/7.

I think it’s a lovely name and relatively unusual where I live.

But names can have pockets of popularity. I was amazed to read on here that Georgia is relatively unusual, because there are lots where I live and that’s been the case since I was a child!

MulderitsmeX · 05/01/2023 23:19

I only know one

dancinfeet · 05/01/2023 23:09

I know a 6 year old Cora
