Lara definitely! A lovely name. The 2 Laras I have taught have been lovely and quite posh.

Notplayingball · 02/01/2023 20:36

Lara

Twoinapod · 02/01/2023 20:33

I know or a few Lara’s, all of them would be described as a bit rough. None are nice people, it does often get confused for Laura too. Always makes me think of Cilla Black tbh

i like Elana, the others seem a bit made up.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 02/01/2023 17:50

My favourite name at the moment is Elena (pronounced Elaina) which is similar to your suggestions.

CharitySchmarity · 02/01/2023 17:41

Lara is the only one I have ever seen used as a name before. It's not quite my thing, but I like rather than dislike it.

I think I like Eliora best of the "Eli-variations" but I would probably choose a more established variant, probably Elina or Eliana.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/01/2023 16:13

Lara.
Eliara, Elara, Elea, Eliora, Elana all look like made-up Ellie name.

Hick0rydick0ryd0ck · 01/01/2023 14:39

Another vote for Lara!

user1492757084 · 01/01/2023 14:04

I like simple and chic rather than fussy sounds.
Therefore I choose Lara.
Have you thought of Alanna?

crumpet · 01/01/2023 11:27

Ileana and Ilaria are both very pretty alternatives, and are “ real” names

midnightfirework · 01/01/2023 11:22

Lara. The others are all just meh

tasamoon · 01/01/2023 10:34

Lara, out of your list. Other suggestions:

Lyra
Elena
Ilaria
Eloise
Elise

Theemptychair23 · 01/01/2023 10:24

I like them all. I think Eliora is really pretty.
I also love Elana. I'm assuming it is pronounced like Alana, but think it looks really pretty with an E.

I've also heard Aloria which is nice, and Elora.

LlynTegid · 01/01/2023 09:33

If I had to choose, Elana or Lara. Less chance of having to correct or explain spelling as a child grows up.

GreenManalishi · 01/01/2023 09:30

Lara I LOVE

The rest just sound like an anagram challenge

Lionessss · 01/01/2023 09:29

I still wouldn't have liked Eliara even in that new list. It just feels too much. Ella is nice. Ilaria is nice. Leah is nice. Lara is nice. All of them together is a bit of a mouthful!
But saying that, if you named your daughter this, she would grow into the name anyway and people would just accept it as her name

AllyCatTown · 01/01/2023 09:25

-a ending

AllyCatTown · 01/01/2023 09:25

I really like Elara. I disagree it’s frilly like others say though I see how it fits into the pattern for popular name trends with the -an ending and that it’s vowel heavy. I think the r gives it some weight though. Also it’s a moon of Jupiter and a name from Greek mythology so not a randomly made up name. Maybe people will think that though given this thread.

Billslills · 01/01/2023 08:05

Lara (or Lana), by a mile, it’s a really strong, solid yet feminine name. I feel like it serves all ages and personalities well.

Your other names are ‘fussy’ and ‘frilly’ and questionable whether they’re made up unless you live in a surf town in Australia.

greenteafiend · 01/01/2023 08:04

Lara.

The others all smack of "I like Ellie and Ella but they're too popular so here's my variation," but in reality they will just blur into all the other names beginning with "El" which all feel really overused.

Enko · 01/01/2023 01:43

Lara, ok pretty name
Eliara,really lkke this
Elara, very pretty
Elea, not keen unsure why as i love El names
Eliora, pretty
Elana My favourite

What about
Elora
Eloisa
Elaria
I dont think putting Eliara next to Sophie Olivia and Ava would get it more votes its too unusual for many mn people
But perhaps if put next to
Mariana Floriana Frederika and Eliara it would work.

Imo many on mn likes the top 50 names and going outside is risky

Ell95 · 31/12/2022 23:42

My name is Ellia - sounds similar- just putting it out there 😂

urrrgh46 · 31/12/2022 23:32

@Neolara say hello to your 18yr old from me (another Lara 😃😃) - only wish I was 18 again 🤣😂

urrrgh46 · 31/12/2022 23:31

Lara has served me well for almost 47 years. However, believe it or not I have to spell it every time - not that that has bothered me. I've also had people unable to grasp that I'm not called Laura.

I think that Lana and Zara are lovely too.

HoHoHowMuch · 31/12/2022 23:20

Lara is the only one I like. I would have assumed that Elea was a trying to be different spelling of Elly if a previous poster hadn't said how it was pronounced. It would look like Flea quite easily. I find people shorten names a lot, so the lk ger ones you mentioned would probably end up with nicknames.

TeddyTrucks · 31/12/2022 23:17

Lara definitely - the others sound like someone has made them up to try to be original. Generally when this is the case the poor child seems to spend their life spelling out their name to everyone.
