Most popular names in Germany 2022 released

Maybe some of you are interested. German names seem to be popular now such as Otto, Ottilie, Anneliese or Heidi.

I have family there. Any surprises? This is the list, source www.beliebte-vornamen.de

Frieda left the top 20 as well as Amelie. Lilly and Luisa are new (but we’re both in the top 20 at an earlier point).

Solea, Hedda, Hilda, Wilma, Nora, Romy, Malia, Malea.

Some that are falling rather quickly or steadily:

Ben, Jannik, Luca.

Greta, Anna, Katharina, Hannah (for being a top 10 name), Laura, Lisa, Fenja, Lenja, Finja, Sarah.

Yes they’re quite international sounding. I’ve noticed this too.

Am I right in thinking that Germany is one of those countries with an official name list to chose from?

The girls list wouldn't look out of place in the UK for the most part.

It’s showing the most popular names in Germany by numbers, obviously. Some people are interested in statistics.
