I posted earlier about the name Lyle, and got some mixed opinions so have gone back to the drawing board and made a list of names we both like. Our son is named Adam. What’s your favourite off the list?

Lyle
Luke
Nathan
Emmett
Floyd
Linus
Saul

Saul is my favourite

Linus a very close second

Luke is a classic and Adam and Luke classic combination. I’d be less likely to use it though as Lucas/Luca are becoming overused

Nathan also works well, but I’d be less inclined to use it as lots of Nathan/iel’s about

Seth

I don’t like Emmott at all but it’s not awful

Lyle the same

Floyd is really awful

Lyle is better.

Don’t be silly. You could add letters onto almost any name and come up with something daft like that.

Luke works best with Adam imo - very similar style in that they are both commonplace, well known Biblical classics but which have never got super popular/trendy. Emmett is a bit surname/very US sounding to me, and Saul is pretty uncommon/ more strongly Biblical sounding so stands out more in comparison to Adam imo.

Luke Joshua and Adam Joseph sound like an obvious sibset/similar style to me! Grin I'd probably guess an Adam to have a brother with a similarly very well known/used Biblical style name - so if not Luke, then something like Daniel, Zachary, Michael, Jacob, Samuel, Mark, Ethan etc.

Thank you, I think we’re going with Luke as like Adam it’s biblical, recognisable but not many babies are called it right now.

My favourites from the list are Emmet, Saul and Luke, in that order. I don't like the other names on the list but Emmet Lyle goes well together.

I prefer Lyle or Luke. Prefer Nathaniel to Nathan.
I don't like the others especial Saul and Linus.

Luke goes really well with Adam. Emmett is also a beautiful name, maybe you could go with Emmett Lyle.

I really like your taste in names. Saul/Sol is a family name in my family so Sol short for Solomon might appeal to you also.

Thank you everyone, I think with feedback and after talking to DH I’ve narrowed it down to either Luke, Saul or Emmett.

Lyle - don't like at all
Luke - like it
Nathan - ok but I'm not keen
Emmett - don't like it other than as a surname
Floyd - don't know. Would think mixed race, but I only know one and he's caucasian
Linus - ok
Saul - like it

I'd pick Saul
