Help, she’s here but doesn’t have a name

Really struggling as we’ve either used our favourites or have family/close friends who’ve used them.

Need something short, unfussy to match siblings.

Names we kind of agree are a maybe:
lsla, Lara, Ava, Lyla, Kayla.

I also like Erin and Cara. He doesn’t.

He likes Clara and Layla. I dont.

We’re not miles apart really, but can’t find a solution. Probably because we’re overthinking it, but none stick out as feeling ‘right’.

Any thoughts/suggestions please. Any advice if you didn’t really have a favourite or couldn’t agree with partner so had to settle on a ‘maybe’ name. Did you grow to love it? Do you still have second thoughts?

Honestly, you grew her, you birthed her- everything else being equal I think you get to have your favourite name and he should be the one getting used to it.

Clara and Cara are incredibly similar. He can't get his head around adding an 'L' and calling her Clara?

Good luck to any man arguing with a woman still wearing a post birth diaper thingy.

Thanks everyone!

I love Ellie, Thea, Talia, Orla, Caoimhe (and lots of others mentioned!), he doesn’t.

Our surname is a bit of a problem with names ending in -a sound, which is again maybe a reason I can’t settle on some of our ‘maybe’ names.

Trying not to be too outing but sisters are Lexie (easily agreed) and Keira (that really was hard work as DH really wasn’t keen initially). Brother is along the lines of Jack/Jake (easily agreed).

Feel her name needs to be similarly ‘strong’ so I’m not keen on Lily, Millie etc for her although I don’t dislike them as names.

Would you be happy to post a photo OP? That might narrow peoples thoughts as I do think some names just don’t sit right once you’ve seen the baby.

CoachCarter · 22/12/2022 22:16

This is often difficult because you may love a name and then the baby is born the name doesn't fit the face if you see what I mean. Also you may be torn between two names and when they arrive one name fits perfectly. The family name / surname can also have an effect on the choice of first name, some work well together and others don't. It's always tough to choose but can you compromise with a middle name as well to allow your daughter to use the ones she feels the most comfortable with.

SequinsandStilettos · 22/12/2022 22:07

I like Krista, Kristie, Holly, Nicole as seasonal
