Honest Thought's on ‘Tabitha’?

So I’m currently 25 weeks with our 4th!!!!
After much deliberation I’ve really settled on the name Tabitha but have had a real mixed bag of reactions from people regarding the name!

We’ve not told anyone that’s what we’ve chosen but just mentioned it when people have asked what names we like….

Now im not normally one to be too hung up on peoples opinions but Tabitha seems to really unsettle a lot of people! The main issue is I just don’t want to give her a name that she has trouble with when she’s older despite how much my husband and I love it!

She’s our gorgeous rainbow baby so one of her middle names will be either felicity/ Iris then Rose afterwards I.e Tabitha Felicity Rose.

Our other children are George, Tobias and Primrose so wanted another name in keeping and really feel that Tabitha sits so well!

Just very torn on what to do!

To people who say it’s a cat’s name, have you never met Catherines who get called ’Cat’? There are plenty about.

It's going to always be associated with cats, but there's worse things to be associated with! My dd is Tabitha, usually called Tab or Tabi. She loves her name, and loves finding clothes with tabby cats on! x

My 3 month old Tabitha is always referred to as Tabby Cat. Everyone so far has loved her name.

I know a wonderful 10 year old Tabitha! Bright, sparky, known as Tabs and Tabby too.

I have one! She's mainly Tabby, Tab or Tabs. It's such a beautiful name and yeah it's kind of a cats name but why is that a bad thing? Cats are great!

We have a Tabitha. You get the usual ‘reminds me of a cat’ or ‘does she twitch her nose’ (reference to Bewitched, apparently 🤷‍♀️🙄) but I love it! It totally suits her and there isn’t another in her pre-school or toddler groups.
we don’t shorten it and don’t intend to

I only know one Tabitha and she is the sweetest most genuine person so i associate it with her. She’s known as Tabs for short 💕

In my mind it's a name for a posh person or a cat but it's still very nice.

Interesting on the Tobias and Tabitha comments, to me I don’t see them as similiar names so never thought of that throwing people! He is known as Toby where as we would manly call her Tabitha so I feel it would work on that front.

all the Input has been great though thankyou all 😊 Definitley given me the confidence to just go with what we love unless she really doesn’t look like it when she’s here! ❤️❤️ Xxx

Gorgeous name.

Many years ago I watched a USA show called Bewitched..... the daughters name was Tabitha......loved it from then.

Tabitha is not to my taste at all (I had an amazing cat of that name and becauseof that I struggle with it on a person) but it goes well with your other children's names.

Agree with this! Personally can't get past the cat association, but it does go well with your other DC names and it's always popular on MN.

Tabitha is lovely, I knew a very sweet woman from work called Tabitha. If you like it go for it. You can’t please everyone and it’s your daughter not theirs!

To me it's a cats name. Tabby is even worse.

It does make me think cat, but on the other hand, I really don't like the other names you have chosen for your children, so I guess my opinion is one to ignore, presumably the people who don't like the name Tabitha just have different taste to you.

I love it. It was on my list but I was overruled but we ended up with two other names that we love.
