When you were growing up, what did you imagine your DC would be called?

And have you ended up using any of those names?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amybelle88 · 17/12/2022 00:31

Stevie-Leigh.

Wow.

My kids names aren't even close to that 😂

I wanted twin girls called Lucy and Laura. Both have gone out of fashion now though.

I also went through a phase of loving the name Nancy but that was quickly ruined by a flatmate I had in my early 20s.

I was going to have twins called David and Dawn. I’ve no idea why.

WorldLeaderPretend · 17/12/2022 00:25

In my head, my 4 are Barnaby, Clementine, Tobias and Titus.

Much to their relief, they all have sensible ordinary names, though my "flowery" names for them cause them great amusement.

Courtney-morgan (yes hyphenated) and Jordan Tyler, none of my kids have names that resembles those at all 😂

I wanted Courtney for a girl and Morgan for a boy. Wink

SE13Mummy · 17/12/2022 00:23

I was going to have Daniel, Danielle, Michael and Michelle.

My DCs are horrified by the matching names and have pointed out no end of problems with the inspired combinations. None of them have any of those names as first names or middle names.

I once thought I’d have a daughter called Cherry Rose. I don’t, but as it happens, Rose is her middle name.

I loved the name Callum in the 90’s - I’d never met one, but it was the name of a Scottish character in an old sit-com. I was quite dismayed when the name became super-popular, then dated. I still think it’s lovely.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/12/2022 00:15

Molly, Jenny or Zach.
I only had one child and it has that name.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 17/12/2022 00:14

Lots of twins in my family. Thought of Edward & Sebastian & Emma & Clara
Had twin girls first no Emma or Clara , then a singleton no Emma or Clara . That’s it for me . I was convinced I would have sons .

Makesmilingyourbesthobby · 17/12/2022 00:10

Clueless for a girls name but I always said as a child and adult Jack/Jackson for a boy but it wasn’t to be 3 DDs for me who all waited weeks after being born before we finally picked names out of hats, got to say worked well for all three of them as names and meanings suit them so much, maybe once the girls have all grown up I’ll get myself a little dog named Jack/Jackson 💁🏻‍♀️

chatnicknameyousuggested · 17/12/2022 00:05

And no, I didn't use it!

chatnicknameyousuggested · 17/12/2022 00:04

Katie Jane O'Grady.

I am the child of immigrants from an ex Soviet state. You can tell instantly from my own name.

organicapricot · 17/12/2022 00:02

Jade & Amelia. I have a DD now but she is not called either of these names.

everydaysabeginning · 16/12/2022 23:59

No way! Mine were Cherrelle (it was that Saturday Love song in the 80s) and River. No, neither of my children got these names, neither were on the list when I was pregnant, decades later.

SouperNoodle · 16/12/2022 23:56

I really liked the name Maddison when I was younger but I went off it in my teens.
Late teens I picked a name for a girl and when dd1 was born when I was 28, that's what we called her 😊

LesOliviers · 16/12/2022 23:56

I always wanted a little girl called Chantelle. Apologies to anyone with the name Chantelle but I now detest the name! I did have a girl though and her name is Stevie, which isn't remotely similar.

Fluffyhoglets · 16/12/2022 23:54

Adelaide
Amelia

And no I didn't use either name. But I still like them.

weeducky · 16/12/2022 23:54

As a young teen I liked Tomika for a girl and Troy for a boy, then I decided I liked Alex, Elle and Thea for girls and wanted Noah for a boy. Considered Noah for DS1 but exDP didn't like it. Still love and would use Alex and Thea if I had girls.

septembersapphire7 · 16/12/2022 23:50

Gabriel & Michael (archangels)

first pregnancy now and was wondering if I’d pick them or if it was just a passing fancy..

postcardpuffin · 16/12/2022 23:48

Also, my own mum now teases me endlessly about my idea that I would have four children.

I still wouldn’t mind four, but only if (a) I won the lottery, (b) I didn’t have to actually give birth to them and (c) I could have a string of night nannies until they were all at least ten. Given that I’m 45 and haven’t won the lottery yet, it seems unlikely 😂

imSatanhonest · 16/12/2022 23:47

Deenie or Queenie - I was a big Judy Blume fan 😆

postcardpuffin · 16/12/2022 23:36

Haha - no 😂

In about 1983 I was convinced my children would be called Joanne, Louise, Jodie and Amy.

From about 1986 to 1989 they were definitely going to be called Jenna (so 80s!!), Juliette, Amber and Ebony.

In the 90s, Tamsin, Charlotte and Isobel.

In the early 2000s, Kitty and Clea.

In the late 2000s, I briefly considered having a fantasy boy DC as well, so Katherine and William.

My actual (only) DD (born early 2010s), isn’t called any of those names! Though if I did have other DDs I might still consider Katherine/Kitty.

EhLov · 16/12/2022 23:29

Fuschia, Ramone, Seamus.

Their dad vetoed every one! But in return he did suggest a few I'd always secretly loved.

twofojoy · 16/12/2022 23:28

Kai & Reece

Stacey & Carly

No, I didn't use any of them. Nothing even remotely similar Grin

boydoggies · 16/12/2022 23:27

Portia, Paris, Caitlin, Jane. Didn't use! My DC all have biblical names.
