And have you ended up using any of those names?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

As a teenager I imagined myself with three children called Richard, Charlotte and Tamsin. Many years later I had two boys. Richard was on our shortlist for DS1 but didn't quite make it to the final cut, but his name does begin with R so then we didn't want to use another R for DS2. I think DH would have considered Charlotte for a girl but not Tamsin. I still quite like all three names.

RuthW · 17/12/2022 17:09

Keeley, Kylie and Kayleigh

Dd is not called any of theses.

Jemimapinotduck · 17/12/2022 16:46

I also forgot Tara... Do you remember when you changed your name for a game, I was always called Tara, I thought it was so glamorous and sophisticated. That was before I came up with the other ones!! 😂😂😂 I still didn't use it!

OldTinHat · 17/12/2022 13:08

As a little girl, I always imagined having a DS called Michael.

I have a DS called Michael!

Caraoke · 17/12/2022 13:02

Cicely, Havannah and Remé (pronounced like the booze).

In reality I have boys with traditional Scottish names!

ThisIsWhyWeCantHaveNiceThings · 17/12/2022 13:00

Daniel and Melanie 😆

Never even close to naming my daughter Melanie. I do still think they are nice names though.

InSummertime · 17/12/2022 12:58

Mine was Catherine or Charlotte for a girl and Henry for a boy.

neither are called that both have obscure family name and the only one they know and both of them love their names

ronaldthefeline · 17/12/2022 12:53

I loved Cordelia too. I blame Angel.

ronaldthefeline · 17/12/2022 12:53

Benjamin and Claudia

My son was never going to be Benjamin

My daughter was nearly Claudia

If I had another daughter she would be Claudia

monicagellerbing · 17/12/2022 12:46

Lydia for a girl never thought about a boy name

CaptainCastillo · 17/12/2022 12:40

I always loved the name Sabrina and I used It for my first child too.

I also loved Odette, Anna, Zane, Maxim and Jack but never used them.

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 17/12/2022 09:11

I thought I'd have a Chloe. Went for Cleo instead 😊

dizzydizzydizzy · 17/12/2022 09:09

Lucy. Still like the name but didn't choose it because it was in the top10.

LT2 · 17/12/2022 08:48

Probably the names I called my guinea pigs - George and Summer (I had lots but these were some of the first!)

Tripsabroad · 17/12/2022 08:47

My best friend and I vowed to name our children after each other. Neither of us did.

I loved Veronica as a child (read it in a book). Dh didn't agree so we used as middle name.

PleaseBeHonest · 17/12/2022 05:22

As a child, I imagined I would have have two girls (Victoria and Eloise) and one boy (Simon).

Funnily enough, I loved the same girls' name for 17 years before my DD was born. I did use it, but it grates on me now and I call her a nickname instead.

MediocreAtBest · 17/12/2022 05:15

Drake and Layla.
Dylan and Tia.

Layla is nice, I'd consider it for another DD but it probably wouldn't make my top 10. Drake absolutely not. I still like Dylan too but unlikely I'd use it. Tia is a no but very close to my actual DD's name which I've only just realised!

Ponderingwindow · 17/12/2022 04:51

Madison
like the mermaid in Splash

i did not use the name when the time came. Far too popular

Theoldwoman · 17/12/2022 03:58

Jason - never had a son
Stephanie and Leanne . Didn’t use.

AwkwardPaws27 · 17/12/2022 01:02

Rufio.
I was a big fan of the film Hook.
DS does not have this name (I did pitch it as a middle name but DH vetoed it).

EIfie · 17/12/2022 00:50

I found my dream boy name when I was 14. Over 20 years later, I had my boy and he has this name. He has one of two other names I also loved as a middle. Can't say as extremely outing.
By around the same age, I had three girls' names I loved. My daughter, born 25 years later, has one as her first name, and one as a middle.

If I had triplet girls, I wanted:
Jacqueline, Samantha, Francesca. I still absolutely love these for a trio sib-set. I have picked far more unusual names for my children though.

My favourite triplet dream boy names were:
Jack, Tom, Max. Also still love.

KohlaParasaurus · 17/12/2022 00:43

Julia, Antonia, Marcus, Gaius, Octavia, Claudia, Titus and Lucius 🤣

I drifted away from Ancient Rome and didn't use any of them, but I'm looking at them written down and wondering why not because they're all excellent names. I also didn't have the eight children I thought I would have.

Stichintime · 17/12/2022 00:39

When I was a teenager I was obsessed with names beginning with J. Thinks like Joss, Jess and Josh. Guess I wasn't the only one, because the time I had children 'J' names were way too overused!

Findyourneutralspace · 17/12/2022 00:32

I was going to have Benedict and Lucille.
They didn’t happen.

Then when pregnant I was going to have Daisy and Poppy but they were both boys.

DS1 has said he’s very glad he wasn’t Daisy (he’d have been Double D). He’s definitely not a Daisy - too twee.

They have shortened versions of very normal, traditional boys names.

Aria999 · 17/12/2022 00:31

Anya, Leona.

No I didn't, though DS is Leo.

(By the time DD2 arrived on the scene, Leo and Leona would have been overkill...)
