And have you ended up using any of those names?

I didn't use Charlie because my mum ended up using it for my little brother. I no longer like Emily for my own child but like the name

winonarose · 23/12/2022 21:57

Charlie and Emily

I was born in the late 70s, and (in the 80s/90s) wanted my future child to be called Isabel. It was completely out of fashion at the time, but I thought it was the most beautiful name. I remember reading the St Clare books and feeling sorry for poor old Pat, the twin who got stuck with the frumpy name.

Fast forward many years, I didn’t even consider Isabel. It is lovely but has been done to death.

ScornedChicken · 19/12/2022 15:48

Weirdly yes.
As a young girl, I had a teddy named same name as my son, since it was a name I liked. A characteristic name from a certain country.

My husband I met totally by chance in England (he's from that certain country I mentioned) and he loves that name and asked can we name our DC after his relative and as it goes, I liked the name anyway. Didn't tell DH I had a teddy named it 😂

Bradley after Bradley in S Club 7. I pronounced it Brad-eerly.

LadyDanburysHat · 19/12/2022 15:08

As a teenager I was going to have a Matthew and a Phoebe. I have neither, although I did nearly use Phoebe as a middle name.

Eminybob · 19/12/2022 15:05

Leigh and Kurt (Kurt as in Cobain Blush)

Nope. 2 boys and no Kurt. And Leigh was not on my girls list while pg.

GimmeBiscuits · 19/12/2022 15:05

As a teen, despite being extremely single, I had a list of potential names for future children.
These included:
Zhiselle
Xavier
Chiara
Tomaz
And Charlotte

Didn't use any of them!

rumbypumby · 19/12/2022 15:03

Crystal.

Which I quickly realised as an adult, is a chavvy dog's name so no, we didn't use it.

Natsku · 19/12/2022 15:01

I was always going to have a son called Aslak. I did seriously consider it for DS but in the end decided he just didn't look like an Aslak and it was a bit weird to use a Lapland name when we don't live there.

OceanbreezeSun · 19/12/2022 14:59

I always liked the name Wendy, Tia, August & Woody growing up😆

Thankfully, my taste in names changed!

DemBonesDemBones · 19/12/2022 14:57

My girl her name but I always wanted a boy called West. I think it was in a book I read. 3 boys but no West. In my head I had named 6 girls and I'd actually still use them all now. Grin

FartSock5000 · 19/12/2022 14:55

Growing up and into my twenties I was so sure that my kids would be named the names i'd dreamed about (Demetria, Isabella and Hunter) that it never occurred to me that my DH would not only object but outright veto my name choices!

The names we ended up on were debated and compromised and while I am disappointed I don't have a lil Demetria running around, I am happy that my DH helped choose and therefore felt closer and more bonded with each DC while they were baking in the oven.

His choice for a boy was Wolfgang and I noped that one right away so I wasn't the only one compromising. 🙄

fancyfrogs · 19/12/2022 11:23

Tina for a girl and Jordan for a boy.
I thought Tina was such a cool name 😂 2 ds now, definitely no Jordans and can't say Tina would haven been up there for a girl either 😂

BiscuitLover3678 · 19/12/2022 10:09

I liked Pepper or Posie for a girl - they are the most memorable. I didn’t imagine having boys.

obviously I had a boy!

TheBirdintheCave · 19/12/2022 07:36

Eleanor, Stephanie and Joseph.

Gwendolyn, Lorelei, and Zachary. Didn't have any girls and considered Zachary for both boys, but went with alternatives. Didn't want my son to be called "Zach" or "Zak". I wanted "Zachary", and it was unrealistic.

Gwendolyn is a brilliant name! It was never a name I wanted when I was younger but it's what we called DD

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/12/2022 12:56

Cassius Aeson and Noah - no boys but neither were contenders

Mary-Kate, Alexandra and Matilda - again none considered, although i quite like Alexandra still

forevercurious · 18/12/2022 12:50

Tiffany. DD is not a Tiffany!

Dogsinthecradle · 17/12/2022 21:21

I wanted to name my dds
amber
jade
charm
summer
emerald
hope
rainbow
rachel
megan

didnt think about boys as I wasn’t having a son

life kicked me up the arse-I had a girl (I didn’t name her any of the above names) 4 boys and a another girl (again, not named any of the above)

VikingLady · 17/12/2022 20:55

Elizaveta for a girl - thank you Chalet School books! I chose a more standard girls' name when I had DD. Still from the CS books though!

Peregrine or animism for a boy. I read too many Cadfael books, I think.

I also forgot Tara... Do you remember when you changed your name for a game, I was always called Tara, I thought it was so glamorous and sophisticated. That was before I came up with the other ones!! 😂😂😂 I still didn't use it!

I’ve always wanted to either be called Tara or have a daughter called it. If we ever manage to have kids it’s still on the list.

dottyrobin · 17/12/2022 17:47

As a teenager I wanted a daughter called April (no idea why).
My married name is May so it would have been cruel I think!
