Expat, Kaye Adams youngest daughter is called Bonnie, I think it is pretty cute.We have a few Eilidh's about all spelt different.The island naming has been really popular over the last few years so no doubt schools will be full of Lewis's, Arran's etc in the forthcoming years.

I like them though , my current favourite is Cora (Irish) and Isla. I never can think of boys names that I like enough, here's hoping the next is a girl to.

I know two girls called:

Kinvara (I think it's a bay/beach on NW coast)
Kiloran (after a beautiful beach on Colonsay)

Have worked with both an Innes (boy) and Morven (gorgeous girl) and do like both names.

Isn't it funny how you're influenced by those you've met with the same names?

expat - funny when we were considering Eilidh it was the Ailidh spelling I looked at. I've only ever heard of one girl with that spelling. But we are planning to have another baby so never say never, your chat is reminding my why I love the name....

Innes is indeed a surname. Modern fashion has made surnames as first names popular. I suppose calling a girl Innes is unusual and Scottish

I ahve heard Eilidh being pronounced Eeled, eyeled, eyelid, eelee, loads of ways, usually by English people or Americans, sorry to say

I love Eilidh, it's one of my all time favourites. DH wouldn't coutnenance it though. It was on my Mum's list for my dsis but my Dad said no - she is now Eleanor (Ellie). We have an Irish background but the whole family is English born, also no-one round here would know how to pronounce it. If I were in Ireland or Scotland however, I thing dh could have been swayed.

Isla is a beautiful scottish name

Agnes is also beautiful.....

If I had any scottish in my family, I would have chosen either of these gorgeous names

I have said on here that I love the name Eilidh. DS2 was going to be called that.

Call her Eilidh, and if she does not look like a Helen/Eilidh, call her something else .

She is 4 as well, and tall and straight as a sapling.

They are not so fair and tall here, on this side. And even her HV says, 'Mackenzies were Highlanders.'

Yes, I suppose they were.

And so she sticks out.
