I love that it’s such a marmite name! Half the people love it and half hate it. I think this makes me like it more? When people say ‘it’s fine’ or if everyone loves a name it sort of puts me off. I feel like ‘oh, it’s bland’ or ‘it will become too popular.’ I bet Silas will never be one of several in the classroom based on these reactions… which is a bit positive IMO !

I also think of the murderer in Hollyoaks , which was actually my fire though too when I wondered about using it… but I don’t think a Hollyoaks storyline from 15 odd years ago should make too much of an impact on my decision 😁 plus I do love a good serial killer story. I’m in it more for the biblical Silas!

@milkandchocolat , it's a NT name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/12/2022 19:16

Great - and quite unusual without being weird

RambamThankyouMam · 07/12/2022 18:34

Village idiot.

burgledinParis · 07/12/2022 17:41

I love it !

Dintananadinta · 07/12/2022 17:38

Vampire diaries

forevercooking · 07/12/2022 17:37

Mass murderer from Hollyoaks

TippyToesKnows · 07/12/2022 16:33

Marner

TheTeddyBears · 07/12/2022 16:33

Sorry it was same name as a serial killer on Hollyoaks. I don't like it much anyway but this is probably also putting me off.

miltonj · 07/12/2022 16:27

Not keen but love Cyrus. Go for Cyrus!

LaLaLouella · 07/12/2022 16:19

Depressed farmer...

chercez · 07/12/2022 16:19

I'm not a fan, reminds me of silage. Sorry

LadyKenya · 07/12/2022 16:18

Nice strong sounding name. The classroom will not be full of boys with the same name.

Mercurial123 · 07/12/2022 16:16

Hate it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/12/2022 16:14

Love it

SirenSays · 07/12/2022 16:14

Love it! Way better than all the old man names around atm and He was the hot blonde in Weeds

Rachaelrachael · 07/12/2022 16:13

Sorry I don't like it. Makes me think of the hollyoaks killer but also generally doesn't have a good 'feel' to it, cant really explain why

AllPlayedOut · 07/12/2022 16:12

Awful.

velvetiserenthusiast · 07/12/2022 16:05

Silas is also the name of the main villain in The Vampire Diaries - I wonder if films/TV shows view it on the same level as Lucifer? Given all the replies here reference bad guys on film..

handbagsandholidays · 07/12/2022 16:04

I'm
Not keen on it as i used to be a hollyoaks fan in my teens and it reminds me of the serial killer character. However it really doesn't matter what I think and I think if I knew another Silas in reality that wouldn't be my first thought of the name. X

Spenn · 07/12/2022 16:01

Reminds me of summer holiday tv https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silas(TVV_series)

Which was so boring (and badly dubbed) we used to call it Silage

FourChimneys · 07/12/2022 15:59

I love it, but I'm a big fan of George Eliot.

He needs a brother called Edgar, one of my favourite boy's names.

shasha21 · 07/12/2022 13:50

What do you think?

Please don't. That poor child.

SecretVictoria · 07/12/2022 15:54

I used to watch a (German? Dutch?) TV programme as a kid about a boy who ran away from the circus IIRC. Also reminds me of the serial killer in Hollyoaks.
