Classic but not super common boys name

I like the sound and vibe of the name Alexander, but would prefer something less common. It doesn’t need to be really rare- I’d prefer it if everyone has heard of it. Something where there’s less likely to be lots in the class. Without meaning to offend others, not keen on names I think of as more trend-led/of the moment like Arlo/Albie/ Roman. Not keen on what I’d think of as cheeky chappy names like Ronnie/Alfie. Not keen on more 80s names I see suggested on theses forums like Simon/Peter/Thomas. Names like Vincent/Felix/Quentin bit too left -field for me. Like Laurence but can’t use.
If you didn’t die of boredom reading that, please help !

Interested that you see Thomas as an 80s name. I think of Thomas Becket, Thomas Aquinas, Thomas Moore, Thomas Cromwell etc. Sort of a strong, traditional name. The power behind the throne. And as an 80s child I only knew one Thomas.

Hugo
Hector
Job
Also really like: Sebastian, Ezra(actually love this), Tobias, josiah, Jacob, Lucas
And I'm loving Xander(very posh).

I’ll echo the PPs who suggested John. It’s such a solid, sensible, masculine, warm sounding name. You know where you are with a John! Lovely for a little boy, especially these days, as you don’t come across many young ones.

@YesItsMeYesItsMe I love that story about someone choosing your son’s name after spotting it on his peg. I’m not surprised - Jos is fabulous! Makes me think of some rugged young man galloping through the countryside on his faithful steed in medieval England.
