Charli for a girl?

I have met about 2 female Charlies in the past but they spelt it "charley" but I'm not particularly keen on that spelling

Is Charli spelt this way nice for a girl?

It seems more feminine than Charlie or Charley to me

Charlie is a lovely name for a girl - or a boy - but spell it right! Missing the -e just looks like a mistake.

aoibhacado · 21/12/2022 16:28

also, if you call her charlotte, she could also go by lottie. i would go with charlie because then there wouldn't be any awkward "actually, there's no e at the end" situations.

aoibhacado · 21/12/2022 16:25

love it, but charli on a birth certificate doesn't really look right. charlotte grace has a lovely classic sound. personally, i prefer just plain charlie a nn for charlotte. also, charli and grace are the first and middle names of a tiktok creator, so you may get a look or two from younger generation z. personally charlie grace, short for charlotte grace, is the way i would go.

Chav way of spelling Charlie.

Jackonary · 13/12/2022 23:20

Definitely go with Charlotte ' then she can change the spelling of her nickname if she doesn't like it

Beginbylettinggo · 13/12/2022 12:26

I know a Charly and it's suits her well. Definitely not chavvy.

knitnerd90 · 13/12/2022 01:36

People will think you've named her for Charli XCX or Charli D'Amelio. Charli XCX's real first name is Charlotte, by the way. I would use Charlotte, which lets her make her own mind up about nicknames later. I know several adults who don't like that they only have a nickname version of their name.

I have a 'without an E' name. Nobody listens. Everybody spells it wrong. I get massively annoyed bc it's basic stuff to listen and write but people insists on continuing to write until they have added the E.

'No, it doesn't have an E on the end'

'Oh ok' does nothing 'so, your address?'

'My name still doesn't have en E on the end of it'

'Oh,????'

Please don't do that to your child

XanaduKira · 13/12/2022 01:15

I think it's an awful way to spell it, as is Charly. Please spell it properly and please let it be short for Charlotte otherwise it's awful.

CallieQ · 13/12/2022 01:04

Nah

Daisybuttercup12345 · 13/12/2022 00:57

Just looks like someone couldn't spell Charlie.

Gingersnappy · 09/12/2022 20:13

i think it's cute 😊

Bubbles2692 · 09/12/2022 18:59

When people say about future jobs it really annoys me, I actually think a more unique name stands out against all the common names. They aren’t just going to toss a cv aside because the name isn’t traditional 🙄 and if they do, what a boring company to work for! My little girl is called Billie and I love it 😊

urbanbuddha · 08/12/2022 07:26

Charlie, short for Charlotte gets my vote.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 08/12/2022 07:19

I am a teacher and have taught a couple of girls called Charli. They always complained about people spelling their name incorrectly.

It's not like something like Abbie or Abi or Vicky or Vicki, where both spellings are fairly common.

DurdleSnore · 08/12/2022 07:12

Charlotte Grace. Solid name. Then you can create and spell a nickname however you wish.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 07/12/2022 19:42

I know a few Charli's in their 20s. It's ok.

RambamThankyouMam · 07/12/2022 18:33

Chavvi

youcantry · 07/12/2022 18:21

No it just looks like you forgot the 'e'. My goddaughter is Charlotte but known as Charlie. I doubt that she would like it spelt wrong!

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 07/12/2022 17:15

Chavvy as a full name with -ie. Beyond chavvy with just an i. Another vote for Charlotte here.

CaptainCastillo · 04/12/2022 14:50

I understand why you like Charli though, Its actually cute Imo, but as I already said, It would be so annoying for her.

CaptainCastillo · 04/12/2022 14:48

Sorry, but I have to agree with everyone else, It would be better to call her Charlotte (nn Charli) or just Charlie. Charli will always be spelled wrong, maybe pronounced wrong and I don't think anyone would like to have to explain their name to everyone they meet every single day.

babysgotthespends · 04/12/2022 10:46

Not a fan tbh.

LaLuz7 · 03/12/2022 13:12

Don't give your daughter a typo for a name. It's stupid and cruel.

Rauha · 03/12/2022 12:59

No, I don't like it
