Middle name for Stormi?

Why don’t people name their children nice, normal names anymore? It seems a race to the bottom who can be the most quirky and unique. Yeah it’s great for the parents but that kid has to put up with it the entirety of their life. Other kids are dicks, other adults are dicks, you don’t want your child being a source of unwanted attention.

I think the issue is in real life people will be polite to your face because as you say its your choice. Believe me though they will go home and say can you Believe that Astyr is going to call her kid Stormi. (defo porn star vibes). Imagine the poor kid at school.

I think actually coming here and people being able to say what they think unfettered is a good gauge of what people would think.

Its not a name like Sophie or Kate where you like it or not as a matter of personal choice. It is a real "taste/tasteless" choice. If you are happy to go ahead knowing it will be one of those names that will raise eyebrows but not in a good way that is of course fine and entirely your choice but don't kid yourself it won't.

Suggestion would be to go for something like a colour - such as Stormi Blue or Stormi Jade

I also don't get the hate for Stormy. I wouldn't recommend Stormi either but Stormy is fine?

What is so different between Stormy and Autumn, Skye, Summer, Brooke, Dawn?

I think there's nothing wrong with it as long as it's spelt Stormy.

For the love of everything holy do not name her Stormi she's not a dolly or a toy, give her a normal, accurately spelt name. Channel your hippy creativity into art or something not into your child's name.

You could call their sibling Starri and keep Nyte as a family middle name. Pass it down through the generations.

Stormi is a great name for a hamster. So how about "nutballs" for a middle name? Would that work w your surname?

Or change Stormi to Storming and then Nora for a middle name?

The names MN hates are generally well accepted in their demographic/local communities. However it's harder to be leave that community/demographic with a name that evokes unconscious bias. It works the other way too and the child called Horatio or Gulliver could also suffer at a non leafy comp.

I'd play it safe but many people think that's boring. I say it from the place of having a name at the other end of the spectrum and would have preferred something unremarkable like: Angela or Jane. It is incredibly boring when people comment about your name and form an opinion because of it. Sadly the most comments in my youth came from teachers and nurses - people who shoukd know better.

No, it was Stormi. She was a regular model, not a prostitute and it was several years back.

Imagine an adult professional introducing themselves as Stormi ....... fine for a child but not really suitable for an adult.

The thing is when people think of baby names they think of a little three year old running about and pretty much anything seems cute. We frequently called our toddler “Boo” for goodness sake (he has a normal real name) Anything works for a toddler.

50 year old Stormi is going to hate you for assuming her rap/porn career would take off.

You better hope she has a very placid nature or she will get the absolute piss taken out of her every time she's in a bad mood. Puberty will be a very risky time for her getting stormy mood jokes.
If you must, Storm is better than Stormy, which is better than Stormi.

@canyoutoleratethis You chose your child’s name for a reason though and didn’t choose others. So why did you not pick those others? You made associations with Olivia’s and Tristan’s the same as Doris and Arthur or names in the top 10. Pretending no one thinks about names is daft.

I quite like adjective names as in the Native Americans tradition. But as you probably aren’t, having no middle name is appropriate. Middle names are traditionally family names to remember your relatives. So name her after a family member.
