Thoughts on the name Wednesday? Always liked it personally from the old adams family movie but dh seems to think it will become more of a 'trend' name with the new netflix show out. Opinions?

i like it, but you're definitely setting your child up to be made fun of.
days of the week in other languages might work, for example my sister's name is aoine which is irish for friday. luan is a common name in america and it's irish for monday. or maybe viernes (friday in spanish?) not miercoles (wednesday in spanish), because it's a commonly used "fake swear" for kids to use in place of mierda (shit).

Daisybuttercup12345 · 13/12/2022 00:54

It's a day of the week, not a kids name. Stupid idea, unless your name is Addams.

I've just binged watched Wednesday, a comedy horror spin off of the Aadams family, following Wednesday Aadams. Have a heart and please choose another name.

Penguinsaregreat · 11/12/2022 23:11

I knew of a Wensday spelt that way.
I think it will peak in popularity due to the film. I’ve heard worse and I’ve heard better names.

KirstenBlest · 10/12/2022 13:39

But the cheese is Brie.

KirstenBlest · 10/12/2022 13:38

There's a cheese called Orla, and Lester (Leicester) is a known boy's name

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/12/2022 13:23

That would be too cheesy

But you get more than a few people called Bree.

Stinking Bishop, not so much Grin

KirstenBlest · 10/12/2022 12:43

That would be too cheesy, @Stayathomenamechange.

Call her Wensdaie and then you get the same sound without the bad associations 😉

That reminds me of Wensleydale... which I'd prefer as a name to be fair! 😂

gaf · 09/12/2022 20:41

I know a Friday.

jnoOLDIE · 09/12/2022 20:26

Seriously ? Poor child...

Pandor · 09/12/2022 20:23

I know someone called Tuesday. It isn’t really remarked upon.

Gingersnappy · 09/12/2022 20:18

not a huge fan. i much prefer Sunday actually, i know someone who named her daughter Isla Sunday and thought it was v pretty

Zelda93 · 09/12/2022 16:44

I went to school with a girl called Monday 🤔

MerryMarigold · 09/12/2022 16:41

Purplemagnolias · 09/12/2022 14:22

Or Friday nickname Fry?!

I mean to be fair at least Friday is everyone’s second favourite day. Wednesday… hump day… middle of the week drag… it’s not even a good day!

Purplemagnolias · 09/12/2022 14:22

Or Friday nickname Fry?!

inappropriateraspberry · 09/12/2022 10:57

Would you call your child Monday, or Saturday? No, so don't call them Wednesday!

Callieviolet · 09/12/2022 10:52

A friend of mine has a ‘Sunday Rose’ - all I hear is ‘Sunday roast’.

KirstenBlest · 09/12/2022 09:51

Wednesdaigh?

Purplemagnolias · 08/12/2022 20:02

I wonder how the name would translate to other languages - Mittwoch, Mercredi?

Enko · 07/12/2022 23:54

I quite like it. Also like Tuesday

gaf · 07/12/2022 16:42

Wednesday is happy hump day, I’m not sure that’s a good thing.

I read something on fb about a mum who named her baby Wednesdaigh. Her other kids had fucking awful names too.

rudolphrainbownose · 07/12/2022 15:31

I love it :)

midsomermurderess · 07/12/2022 13:58

@FlamingJingleBells You say giving your child a day-of-the-week name is lazy but it’s common in other cultures, eg in Ghana. So Kwasi means ‘Born on a Sunday’; Kofi is Friday (boys) and eg Akuba (girl) is Wednesday.
