Lucia (pronounced Loo-see-ah) or Louisa, which do you prefer? Thanks.

Anna Louise seems very 80s to me

PinkSyCo · 30/11/2022 08:26

You could have a combination-Louanna? Not sure I like it mind you. Lucia and Louisa are both lovely names though, and Anna Louise is pretty.

CatByDay · 30/11/2022 08:20

Louisa is beautiful.

MassiveSalad22 · 30/11/2022 08:10

I’d vote Louisa because the fact you’ve had to spell out the pronunciation of Lucia shows it’s going to be an issue… and I still don’t know if you mean LOO-see-ah or loo-SEE-ah. There’s also Lucia as in St Lucia.

Louisa, Anna, Lucia for me.

Tripsabroad · 30/11/2022 08:07

Louisa, then Anna, then Lucia.

I do really like Luisa too.

BlueSuffragette · 30/11/2022 06:14

Louisa then Anna. Not keen on Lucia at all.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 30/11/2022 05:46

Anna is beautiful.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 30/11/2022 04:51

I love Louisa and Eloise.

really not keen on Lucia and I went to school in the 80s/90s with about 10 Anna’s so it feels dated and boring to me.

Ragingoverlife · 30/11/2022 04:30

I always read it as Loosha rather than loo seeah

As in St Lucia.

Its a gorgeous name though.

GLADragss · 30/11/2022 03:30

Luisa could be a good hybrid of the two as a pp suggested

in my head I feel like Lucia has a “th” sound with the authentic Spanish pronunciation so I always hesitate saying it out loud in fear of botching it

GLADragss · 30/11/2022 03:26

Louise or Louisa

Anna seems a bit outdated for me
Lucia will get constantly mispronounced. I worked with a Spanish lady called Lucia and I’m sure she’d tell you there’s 100s of ways people fudge her name

user1477391263 · 30/11/2022 03:16

Lucia puts me off because of the pronunciation issues. I love LuSEEa, but you will probably get LooCHEEa, Loocha and Loosha, and she will constantly have to spell and pronounce her name for people.

Louisa is a lovely name, can't go wrong.

rudolphrainbownose · 29/11/2022 17:34

I really like Louisa x

blackandwhitecat123 · 29/11/2022 09:02

Lucia by a mile! Louisa and Anna are fine but a bit dull.

EdgeOfACoin · 29/11/2022 06:04

Louisa is an elegant name! I also like Lucia.

I find Anna to be quite dull.

connie26 · 29/11/2022 05:42

Lucia. It's a lovely name.

shasha21 · 29/11/2022 05:03

Love Lucia and Louisa but find Anna very dull.

Pictograph · 29/11/2022 04:32

@Lmorgann Read the OP's second post, in which she adds the third option.

Lmorgann · 29/11/2022 03:51

There was never "All three" asked.
She asked between the two, either Lucia, or Louisa.
The third came from peoples comments, which was never an option in the OP, so that's completely null, and void.

Lmorgann · 29/11/2022 03:46

Perhaps address the original posters question.
"Lucia or Louisa"
She never asked for suggestions of other names, so why is everyone going off on a tangent, talking to eachother, and ignoring the OP question?

It's definitely a Lucia for me.
Not an Anna, a Kristina, a violet, or even a Mary, cos that's not what the OP asked.

NotABeliever · 28/11/2022 23:42

Louisa
Then Anna
Lucia is not my favourite because I never know how to pronounce it.

DramaAlpaca · 28/11/2022 23:18

Louisa, it's beautiful.

I like Anna very much too.

Not so keen on Lucia.

Wrongsideofpennines · 28/11/2022 23:09

Louisa. But I also like Anna.

I would pronounce Lucia with a ch sound in the middle and I wouldn't want my child to have to repeatedly correct. I spend my entire life correcting the vowel at the end of my name - think Louise/Louisa - so may be worth baring that in mind too.

Timefornew · 28/11/2022 23:03

My DGD is called Lucia with the soft ‘c’ sound. I think it is lovely. Also the meaning ‘light’ is beautiful.

MichaelAndEagle · 28/11/2022 23:02

I really like the name Louisa
