We have Delilah at the top of our list for a girl but wanted to hear from you guys, if you have/know a Delilah do you/they always get "why, why, why Delilah?!"

I hate the way Delilah sounds. I just find it wonky

Delia on the other hand I find feminine and lovely

Lovely name

The song is regularly sung at football and rugby events. If you watch Welsh matches or Stoke City matches, you'll be familiar with it.

Chuckiegg · 23/11/2022 14:38

It's a lovely name - a Delilah I know of has become 'Deli' as a nickname.

Why why why...

Between the song and the biblical story, it doesn't seem like a great choice to me.

Agree! Poor Samson Sad

I probably wouldn't give it as a name to a girl who was going to grow up in Cardiff tho.

toastofthetown · 23/11/2022 14:24

Maybe I should add to my other comment, that I’m in my late twenties and think of Why Why Why over Hey There Delilah (which I haven’t heard since about 2011 and hope it stays that way.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 23/11/2022 14:23

I'd say anyone over 40 will think 'why, why WHYYYYY, Delilah'

People under 40 will think 'hey there, Deliliah'

It's a lovely name and seems to be becoming quite popular so maybe the associated songs aren't too much of an obstacle.

toastofthetown · 23/11/2022 14:23

Personally my brain goes to why why WHHYYYYYY but Delilah is the 50th most popular name and still soaring in popularity so it’s objectively fine, if very trendy at the moment. Not a name I personally find attractive in any way though.
