Hi all,

DH and I like all of these names, but which would be your choice?

Halle (like Halle Berry)
Naomi
Tahlia
Zoe

Middle name likely to be Jane (my DM's middle name) or Joy (my DGM's middle name).

Thanks!

I like Halle best but I would pronounce it Hal-ay. I would choose Hallie if you are after the Hal-ee pronunciation to avoid confusion.

I also like Naomi but agree with PP you may run in to pronunciation issues there too. I prefer Nay-omi but lots of people would say Nigh-omi.

Zoe feels a little dated to me but it is a nice name and she likely won’t be one of 7 with her name at school if that is important to you.

Thalia is OK but I feel like it’s a prettier name written down, less so when you’re actually saying the name out loud. Maybe have a go calling each name out loud and see which one fits you best.

Jane and Joy are both lovely choices for a middle name especially with the family meaning behind them. Congrats and good luck choosing!

Tahlia Joy

NotABeliever · 24/11/2022 23:09

How do you pronounce Halle?

yikesanotherbooboo · 24/11/2022 23:04

Zoe is my favourite from your choices . Thalia is runner up!

HeyyyMrNoodle · 24/11/2022 22:54

Halle / Hallie!

Firebird83 · 24/11/2022 22:51

Thalia spelled this way, not Tahlia.

Gingersnappy · 21/11/2022 20:43

I say Tahlia. I have a daughter called Taliah (same pronunciation, different spelling 😊) and we get compliments on it all the time. I'd use Jane before Joy for this name

Ihavehadenoughalready · 20/11/2022 17:54

Halle but probably expect mispronunciations.

whatausername · 20/11/2022 16:27

Naomi Jane or Halle Joy

caitlinrose · 20/11/2022 16:22

Definitely not Halle. Way too associated with one person and if she ever does something terrible your daughter's name will be associated with it. It's also German for "hall", not sure if that would bother you. Hallie is okay.

Zoe is a bit bland and feels tired. There were lots of them a few years ago. Same with Naomi.

I'd pick Tahlia which is nice. But Talia looks better and is a legit Hebrew name. Tahlia looks a bit more creative.

new2zumba · 20/11/2022 07:35

Zoe

DuchessOfSausage · 20/11/2022 07:32

Halle (like Halle Berry) - Hallie seems popular on here, and although I don't like it much, at least you can tell how to say it. Halle could be Hall or Hallay.
Naomi - no, because I hate the way some say it as Nigh-omi or Nay-OH-mi. NAY-o-mi is nice though.
Tahlia - Talia is an easier spelling
Zoe - best of the bunch

Spookypig · 20/11/2022 04:20

Naomi Joy 😍

ACollectionofCells · 19/11/2022 22:40

Going against the grain-Halle is my favourite.
I like the name Naomi but I have only ever met awful people of that name. I am sure there are many more lovely ones so that's me being biased.
Thalia-I knew a Talia, all she got was 'geni-Talia' once she was above the age of about 10.

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/11/2022 22:35

Naomi is great
Zoe is v nice

don’t like the other 2 at all. Jane is due a revival though

ofwarren · 19/11/2022 22:12

I like Naomi Joy

FunnysInLaJardin · 19/11/2022 22:10

I love Naomi

Mumofgirls2017 · 19/11/2022 22:09

I'd choose Thalia

fairycupcakes · 19/11/2022 22:05

Halle Jane!!

Tallulasdancingshoes · 19/11/2022 21:56

Halle is my favourite.

Cuppasoupmonster · 19/11/2022 21:52

Naomi Joy, I would absolutely love to be Naomi Joy!

StuffYouAllInTheCrust · 19/11/2022 21:50

Halle. Absolutely love that name! One of DD’s friends is called Halle and I love that it’s different without being too out there.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/11/2022 21:48

Naomi.

Fluffluff · 19/11/2022 21:24

Zoe for sure

RandomMusings7 · 19/11/2022 21:23
