What are your thoughts on Judith and Judy. I really like it and it's similar to Meredith which I also really like.

I struggle to imagine it on a baby though as it seems an older woman name, but then there is a Judy on Paddington and that doesn't seem out of place.

DD2's middle name is Judy after my mum Smile She's a Judith but has always just been known as Judy so it felt more 'her' to use Judy in DD's name.

I think Judy is a pretty cool name nowadays. Definitely not overused and kind of spunky!

TheBirdintheCave · 15/11/2022 18:53

I knew a Judith at uni. She'll be about 35 now. Jude was her nickname. She was studying theatre and was really funny and cool :D

I think it's a good name and not so much heard of these days.

Meredith I much prefer on a boy.

soulinablackberrypie · 15/11/2022 18:34

Not that keen on Judy though I'm not sure why. I actually really like Judith, and although I find it hard to picture a baby or a little girl with that name now, t would only take a few intrepid people to turn it around.

This is my name and I absolutely hate it.
I am 51 and have never met another one of a similar age. They all seem to be at least thirty years older.
It is such a hard sounding name.

Hi! 48 year old one here!
I feel like it's an old fashioned name, can't picture a baby Judith at all

Enko · 15/11/2022 18:18

I prefer Merredith personally

LucyFox · 15/11/2022 18:03

I love the name Judith – would have been the name I would’ve given to a daughter if I’d had one 🥰
(I don’t like Judy though!)

ofwarren · 15/11/2022 18:01

I like it! Same as pp, I prefer Jude rather than Judy as a shortened version.

Judy has a nice 1950s vibe. But Judith doesn’t do it for me. Sounds a bit prim and smug.

Hey! Nowt prim about me.😀

scottishnames · 15/11/2022 17:56

Judith was a famous heroine. It's a great name, commemorating a brave and beautiful woman.

I really like Judith, don’t like Judy though which sounds old-fashioned.

antipodeancanary · 15/11/2022 14:52

I love it! Wish I was naming a baby and could use it.

Daisy62 · 15/11/2022 14:51

Love the name Judith, I think it's due a revival. I think it has a strong but not harsh vibe.

VenusClapTrap · 15/11/2022 14:37

I love it. I think it’s grown up and elegant, and sounds very fresh compared to all the twee cutesy names that are so popular now.

Fogeyname · 15/11/2022 14:23

FTM2022SS · 15/11/2022 14:10

Judith reminds me of the little girl on The Walking Dead - I HATED it when they named this tiny baby Judith but it has definitely grown with the character and I like it now! If you like it then go for it!

Gummibär · 15/11/2022 14:01

Jude is a lovely nickname for Judith. Cool and beautiful sounding.

ladydimitrescu · 15/11/2022 13:59

I like it with Jude as a nickname, but I think Judith isn't back in yet in the same way other vintage names are.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 15/11/2022 13:58

It's my name! I've never known another I'm 57, friends call me Jude

Gummibär · 15/11/2022 13:56

I really like Judith!

It sounds so refreshing after the recent trend of cutesy names like Evie, Ellie, etc.

Judy or Jude are lovely nicknames!

fairycupcakes · 15/11/2022 13:53

Don’t like it at all, sorry OP! Reminds me of “sorry judith” on Come Fly With Me (Matt Lucas & David Walliams)
Judy is better but Meredith is far nicer than both imo!

toastofthetown · 15/11/2022 13:32

I see the appeal of Judith and I think it’s feeling quite fresh, though I’m not personally a fan. Jude would be a good nickname. Judy is pretty awful to me though.

FayCarew · 15/11/2022 13:16

Not keen on Judith. Judy is nice.
Don't like Jude for either a girl or boy.
Meredith is ok as a surname but not as a first name

Marcipex · 15/11/2022 13:05

I like Judy much more than I like Judith.
I like Trudy/Trudie too.

staybyyou · 15/11/2022 13:02

I quite like it, I really like Jude as a nn for a girl.

BackOnTheBandWagon · 15/11/2022 13:01

I like Judith with Jude as a nickname.

Don't worry if it seems like it's old fashioned, it wouldn't have been that long ago that names like Mabel and Ivy would have raised eyebrows, but there are loads of them about now.
