Edie, I love it. I think it’s cool. I really don’t like Violet, it’s so prim and proper. Also I don’t like Vi as a shortening.

I have a Violet so normally I’d vote that however I love it as a middle name too and Edie Violet is lovely 💕

Edie's ok but there are so many Evies. Don't like Edith much, and Eden is a bit too modern. Ede is awful.

I think of Edit, Edinburgh etc, all pronounced Ed and not Eed?!

I know both in kids under 5. I love both too!
I lean towards Edie though as I find Violet a bit cumbersome to say (Vi-o-let vs Vye-let).

I always read Violet as violent.
Doesn't help that the one I know was pretty violent, unfortunately.
Vi is a horrible short version.
Edie is lovely though.

Love Violet. Edie can also be short for Editha and can be spelt Eadie.

It's short for Edith - Ee-dee - it's enormously popular as both full name and diminutive.

What about Edie Violet? I do prefer Edie to Violet but it is more nicknamey so maybe Edith Violet? Lovely, strong and classic sounding name. Congrats @lastminutelady x
