Elliott, brother to Harriet, too samey??

We are expecting a DS and already have a DD, Harriet. DH and I can't agree on boys names at all. We both could potentially compromise on Elliott but is that too samey with Harriet? Also not sure what a good nickname for Elliott would be?

What about

Issac
Caleb
Noah
Elias
Toby
Finlay

I also love traditional boys names (I have a Thomas) and love the name Elliot.

But the above names are ones I like that are traditional but not the usual traditions iyswim?

I think they are very similar so would avoid.

@fairycupcakes ah I was wondering about spelling, that's helpful thank you! Sorry repeating myself but I like traditional names e.g. George, William, Edward etc. DH's short list includes things like Remington, Elland, Daxton, Colby which I can't get on board with!

I do think they are a bit too similar tbh. Same ending.

I agree keep looking... give us some examples of what you and DH each like and we might be able to find the magical name you both like?

@girlmom21 not sure I do like it massively I prefer traditional boy names and my DH likes more outlandish ones! I guess we must like the 'et' sound, we also considered Scarlett if it was a girl.

Hmm tricky one!! I think you have to go with what you love over worrying if they are too samey but I do see what you mean. What is it you like about Elliot? Maybe we can make some suggestions. Oh fyi I’m lead to believe the Elliott spelling is surname and for a first name it should be one t.

We have a Harriet and a Benjamin. I don’t think Harriet and Elliott are too similar at all. And I wouldn’t stress about nicknames, something might happen organically or you might prefer him going by his full name rather than a nickname.

What is it you like about Elliot? Would Elias fit the bill?

I don't think they're too similar but don't just compromise if you're not sure.
