Denver & Dallas for twins

Greenisbeautiful · 10/11/2022 11:17

I am 31 weeks pregnant and my husband keeps insisting on the names Denver and Dallas for our identical twin girls. He told his entire family (without my knowledge) that it was the names WE picked. Personally I find it ridiculous.

My favorite names are Aurora and Elisa or Lola and Helena.

What do you think ?

Btw I am American and he is British. I am from Chicago, Illinois. So far away from Denver,Colorado or Dallas, Texas.

Really really awful

CloudPop · 10/11/2022 17:55

Sheffield and Wednesday.

sopeas · 10/11/2022 17:31

Another one struggling to believe this could possibly be real? If it is then suuuurely husband is pulling everyone’s leg.

bogo · 10/11/2022 13:53

Hideous. Just say no. I don't understand how he could even consider it.

RabbitHoleOfHell · 10/11/2022 13:13

Tell him they sound like future porn star stage names(look up ‘Debbie Does Dallas’);. Dallas and Denver Do Dagenham?😂😂 PS I want a credit on that film.
It’s like he’s stuck in the year 2000; the ‘name your child after the place they were conceived’ trend is SO old, and was always stupid.

getoutof · 10/11/2022 13:13

Terrible but surely he's joking.

SnackyOnassis · 10/11/2022 13:08

Sorry, Denver and Dallas the twins sounds a little bit porny. Creepy old men would love that kind of thing when they're teenagers - avoid!

kingtamponthefurred · 10/11/2022 13:07

Phoenix and Philadelphia?

Trinity65 · 10/11/2022 13:06

Oh Dear

Cyclistmumgrandma · 10/11/2022 13:04

Lola is not "short" for Lolita. Lola is short for Dolores, and Lolita is "little Lola".

AuntieMarys · 10/11/2022 12:54

Awful

Wombat27A · 10/11/2022 12:54

First thought was definitely "Debbie does Dallas" & I don't really ever watch porn. Bet he's got some subliminal inflencing going on here. 🙄😁

Aurora, Elisa and Helena are classical elegant names that will last a lifetime in any woman's lifestyle.

Lola is linked to Lolita, ( in the book of that name, Lolita was a child sexually abused by a much older man). An eternal embarrassment in Western educated or literate circles.

Dallas and Denver (like all those geographical names) will become as outdated as Sue-Ellen and JR. By the time the DD's reach adulthood they will be heartily sick of misgendering and social- pigeonholing by their outdated names.

Course, if iittle Dallas and Denver grow up to be transmen or gun assassins they might be glad of their names.....

Oh! I didn't know Lola was short for Lolita. I watch a lot of telenovelas, and seen plenty of characters named Lola. But yes, I'd rather avoid any names associated with child abuse.

The babies will be ready targets for bullying with those names, when they go to school. They're not even names. They're cities. Your names are all lovely. You'll have to be firm with dh. Tell him NO it's not happening and not to be so ridiculous.

I know this can’t be real, but thanks, OP, you’ve given me a much needed laugh today.

Why is it not real ? :S
Glad I am made you laugh.

Keswick and Chiswick would be a nice town vs country pair.

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/11/2022 12:44

Google weird American place names. There's some absolute shockers there like Booger Hole.

KirstenBlest · 10/11/2022 12:42

I think he's pulling everyone's leg

Your names are beautiful, his are fucking hideous. Dallas and Denver sound like a pair of lesbian porn stars.

This is exactly what I was going to say!

MichaelFabricantWig · 10/11/2022 12:39

Denver and Dallas are horrendous

TruestRepairman · 10/11/2022 12:37

Bit niche, but my first thought was the aggressively wholesome Denver and Dakota of the Sweetums dynasty in Parks and Rec:

Well I'm a fan of the south coast but I wouldn't call my children Bognor and Brighton. In the nicest possible way, he must be nuts.

Spookypig · 10/11/2022 12:27

Denver and Dallas are so bad. They sound like joke names, like someone was challenged to think of the worst possibly twin set names they can imagine 😂 I mean MAYBE one of the names might be tolerable alone (depending on who you are)? but together they’re hideous.

I love Helena and Elise and Aurora is nice too.
