I have a Frances, everyone calls her Frankie which is what she prefers. Except me, I of course call her a totally random nickname which is nothing to do with her name.

postcardpuffin · 09/11/2022 21:43

Lovely name! I personally hate Frankie as a nn; but I know a friend of DD’s (10) who is a Francesca but goes by Francie, which sounds lovely, and much softer than Frankie with the hard k.

LittleMrsPerfect · 09/11/2022 21:42

I also have a Francesca, family call her Cheska, but friends work etc it’s Fran, weather you or she likebit or not it will be shortened to Fran

RandomMusings7 · 09/11/2022 21:40

I love it! Strong classic name that works internationally.

Frankie as nn

soulinablackberrypie · 09/11/2022 21:34

I love it. It was on my long list for a DD but I didn't have one. I think I like the full Francesca better than any of the short forms, but it's important to me that a child should be allowed to choose for themselves which (if any) short forms they want to use, and some girls would really suit Fran or Frankie.

Treeabovethefire · 06/11/2022 21:35

One of the ugliest names I can think of, clearly in the minority here though. I’d hate being called fran or franny

Soproudoflionesses · 06/11/2022 21:34

Love love love it

AlloftheTime · 06/11/2022 20:40

Beautiful name!
And Frankie is fab

SpinningFloppa · 06/11/2022 20:40

It’s nice but there’s a Francesca at my daughters school and her mum calls her franny which is awful

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/11/2022 20:37

Nice

Franca

Jamimas · 06/11/2022 08:45

I like Francesca a lot

Aretheyhavingalaugh · 06/11/2022 00:20

It's lovely. If I have another child and it's a girl, this will definitely be my first choice.

sopeas · 06/11/2022 00:04

also Chess could be an option

sopeas · 06/11/2022 00:03

Beautiful name, I wouldn’t shorten it.

I’ve known of one that goes by Frankie, one who goes by Chessie and one who goes by Cesca ( Pronounced Cheska) and one who goes by Chica 🤷🏼‍♀️

Other options could be Fran or Frannie

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 05/11/2022 21:41

Beautiful name, it was on my list of favourites, if I’d had girls. I know two, one is known as Frankie, the other is Cheski.

DramaAlpaca · 05/11/2022 21:38

I really don't like it. The full name is better than any of the diminutives.

mumumumumumm · 05/11/2022 18:41

I'm a fan, used it for my DD's middle name. Sometimes regret not choosing it for her first name. Love Frankie as nickname.

AllPlayedOut · 05/11/2022 18:16

It's ok. Frankie is utterly hideous though.

Escourtie · 05/11/2022 18:15

Beautiful name you should use it
X

HouseofHolbein · 05/11/2022 18:06

Youngest is Francesca. Goes by her full name most of the time. Sometimes Frank at home or Frankenstein 😁 and running up to Christmas she turns into Frankincense 👍

pilates · 05/11/2022 17:57

lovely

RambamThankyouMam · 05/11/2022 17:56

I love it as a full name. Fran is ugly as hell, and Chesca is a bit try-hard.

Sandysandwich · 05/11/2022 17:52

I've known a Frank, Frankie, Cissy, Chesca, Essa and Fran

Candleabra · 05/11/2022 17:26

Gorgeous name. And loads of nickname options too. I always think shortened names need to evolve as the baby grows, it seems a bit forced to say this is X but known as Y

perenniallymessy · 05/11/2022 17:23

That was our name if either DS was a DD. We were planning on going for either Frankie or Effie as a nickname.
