Surname is a pretty normal surname ending in "der" and our middle names are set after grandparents.

Aria
Tilly/Tillie (not sure if I prefer y or ie)

Joshua
Arthur

Aria and Joshua get my vote

Flowerpicker1 · 03/11/2022 21:07

Arthur as Joshua seems dated and to me.

Aria purely because its a full name. I feel like if you're going to be called Tilly your me should formally be Matilda. It's far to cutesy as a full name imo

Whitewolf2 · 03/11/2022 12:47

i prefer Aria, because Tilly is to me a shortening/nickname.

I like both Joshua and Arthur, slight preference for Joshua, and Arthur is very popular round here.

Schools not scoops

BiscuitLover3678 · 03/11/2022 12:25

I like the sound of Joshua and like Tilly personally

BiscuitLover3678 · 03/11/2022 12:25

You need to go with your heart. What do you like saying? Practising saying it multiple times. Everything else is subjective. I’ve met all sorts of names in scoops and at the end of the day, no one cares.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/11/2022 12:24

Aria and Joshua.

Tilly needs a longer official form (Matilda, Ottilie etc) as it's so twee by itself.

Ihavehadenoughalready · 03/11/2022 11:33

I don't like any of them, really, but forced to choose, Aria or Joshua.

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/11/2022 09:38

I like both your boy name options but prefer Joshua. Just love the sound.

I'm not a fan of Aria at all. I think it will date badly and seems a bit teenage mother-esque.

I also wouldn't use Tilly alone but it's nice enough as a NN. I think I would use it as a shortening of Ottilie

Mumofgirls2017 · 03/11/2022 06:07

Aria or Arthur. I love Matilda but not so much Tilly on it's owned

Itaintwhatyoudoitsthewaythatyoudoit · 03/11/2022 00:35

Aria and Josh.

Kite22 · 03/11/2022 00:06

I prefer Joshua over Arthur. Arthur is a name that will date, whereas Joshua seems to span more generations. Arthur is okay but I prefer Joshua.

I don't like Aria.
I don't really like Tilly as a stand alone name - it sounds like it is shortened from something and needs a fuller name to dignify it.

Timeforredwine · 03/11/2022 00:02

Love tilly or matilda & most definitely arthur

underneaththeash · 02/11/2022 23:59

Tilly (Matilda) and Joshua. Arthur will date.

GlassDeli · 02/11/2022 23:57

Aria and Joshua

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/11/2022 22:46

Aria over Tilly - Tilly is silly (as a full name)

Joshua over Arthur - there are so many Arthurs

notangelinajolie · 02/11/2022 21:36

Tilly (Matilda) & Arthur

pilates · 02/11/2022 20:57

Aria and Arthur.

I think having a shortlist is fine. When you initially see your baby the right name may well come to you then!

Agreed. I think at the point where you have two good options for each, you wait to see which suits the baby. Honestly I find it a bit weird when people decide 100% before the kid is even here.

That said, I like Tessa, as a pp suggested! Seems to fit the vibe but nicer, imo.

Dassams · 02/11/2022 20:24

Arthur is not timeless, when I was at school (seventies) there were NO boys named Arthur. Arthur was an OAP.

Arthur is definitely not timeless. It's currently fashionable but will soon sound dated as it falls out of fashion.

ScruffMuffin · 02/11/2022 20:23

Aria and Joshua

sopeas · 02/11/2022 20:22

sorry for the grammatical errors above! or a nn and in comparison 🤦🏼‍♀️

sopeas · 02/11/2022 20:21

Aria.

Tilly/Tillie seems like a name for a pet of a nn for a person. If you do really love it though can I suggest Matilda, Natalie or Otillie as full names that nn into Tilly/Tillie?

Definitely Arthur for boy! Joshua seems very dated into comparison. Arthur is classic and imo won’t date.

Pemba · 02/11/2022 18:15

Arthur is not timeless, when I was at school (seventies) there were NO boys named Arthur. Arthur was an OAP. Ditto Elsie etc. It's a name that comes and goes I suppose. Very popular in Victorian/Edwardian times, and currently having a revival.

cuminpotato · 02/11/2022 18:11

May I suggest Tessa for a girl?
