Nickname dilemma

Hi,

DC 4 is a few weeks old and we’ve named him Rufus. Other three kids all have names with natural nicknames and we all love using nicknames in our family. The thing that has thrown me is I didn’t realise Rufy was a name for rohypnol ); and my dad as said he thinks Ru sounds weak (which had stuck in my head and slightly ruined that for me). I’m feeling hormonal and tired so this is feeling like more of a drama than I’m sure it will in a few months time!

so my question is what nickname would you give a Rufus, and do you think Rafi is too much of a stretch as Rafferty/Rafi was one of my fave names I didn’t choose in the end due to someone I know having a rafferty who is always know as his full name and never Rafi so it wouldn’t be a problem us using that nickname.

thanks in advance!

I love Rufy and Ru as nicknames. You're thinking too much into it and your dad is wrong about Ru sounding weak.

I think Ru is okay. It's not any worse than Rufy. I think Rafi is a stretch but I prefer that

I would say Ru is more masculine than Rufy if that's what your dad means.

I think Rufy is really cute. Reminds me of a character from Hook! Please stick with that, it's adorable! 🤗

I think the nn Ru is actually really cute! Forget what others think 😊

His name is Rufus so does it matter what others think is weak ? I like Rufie actually and Roo is cute too

DS (age 21) is called Roo at times but his name is Conrad it just happened. So perhaps one will for your Rufus too?

Ru is really sweet! Not sure what is “weak” about it. I find that a really odd thing to say.
