I have 3 boys and we’re expecting a girl - after having a list for so long I’m now finding it really difficult! Appreciate these aren’t to everyone’s tastes but asking for opinions or favourites anyway :-)
Boys are Rafe, Milo and Otis.

Clementine
Cece
Gala
Lilac
Leonie
Etta
Iris
Leo
Clemence
Paloma
Appoline

Cece is my favourite.
Then Iris.

Thank you for your opinions, it all helps even if not all are liked!

Gala isn’t a typo, a little girl we met in France years ago and I’ve loved it ever since but invariably I get ‘as in Gala Bingo?’ 😅 or like the apple. It doesn’t really put me off. I don’t like Gaia.

Leo I’m liking more and more and again it doesn’t put me off that’s it’s traditionally used for boys. Every girl’s name I hear seems to sound so cutesy or end in an ‘a’ and I think a little Leo could be cool!

Clementine I’ve had on my list for years and would be ‘Tyne’. I like Cece as a short name…

I really thought boys names were tricky …!

the Gala bingo comments might not put you off but remember kids will be cruel so your daughter might not like it for quite a long period of her childhood (until she outgrows school and meets more mature people who won’t call her Bingo or shout stuff like legs eleven, two little ducks twenty two etc)

your boys all have quite short names so it might be nice to keep with that and have a short name for her.

Runningslow · 01/11/2022 17:35

i Really wouldn’t call a girl Leo. It’ll be really awkward when she gets older with people thinking she’s trans or NB. It’s different if you give her a unisex name but not one which is virtually unheard of for their sex.

balalake · 01/11/2022 17:33

Think about how others will react, how many times the name could be misspelt, or asked how it is spelt.

Leonie, Clemence and Paloma seem the best of your list in my opinion.

Mumofgirls2017 · 01/11/2022 17:33

Oh and like paloma too

Mumofgirls2017 · 01/11/2022 17:33

Clementine, Iris, Etta 😍

leonie is ok. Prefer clemency to clemency. Only like leo for a boy

Thisisnotmyname2 · 01/11/2022 17:30

I'd have to choose a 4 letter name to go with the others. Like Etta and Iris from your list. What about Cleo if you like Leo?

Pemba · 01/11/2022 13:33

I don't think it would be fair to name a girl Leo, as her official name. There are so many boys named Leo.

You could use Leonie, Leonora or Leonore/Lenore, then use Leo for short. Then when she gets older she could drop the Leo if she chooses.

Spookypig · 01/11/2022 13:08

Clementine - love
Cece - not unless it’s a nickname for Cecily or Celeste or Cecilia. As a nickname I love it but it’s not okay as a full name
Gala - no what?
Lilac - it’s okay
Leonie - it’s nice but I prefer Eleni which has a similar feel somehow?
Etta - it’s okay
Iris - very pretty
Leo - it’s a boys name
Clemence - nice, prefer Clemency though
Paloma - lovely
Appoline - I don’t know what it makes me think of a horse.

Suggest: Saskia, Tabitha, Eleni, Lux, Mercy, Leonora

Eek3under3 · 01/11/2022 12:04

From your list I love Clementine and Cece. I think Cece is my favourite.
I have a dc with one of the same boy’s names as you, and another of your names was my second favourite so we have similar taste!

LegsLikeParsnips · 01/11/2022 11:49

Just my opinion but I'd not name a girl Leo after 3 boys as it might make people think you actually were wanting another boy? I'm probably over thinking though. I love most of your choices. Probably Clementine or CeCe my favourites. I also love Paloma, and maybe you'd consider Pia, Sylvie, Elodie or Cecile.

octoberfarm · 01/11/2022 11:37

I really like Iris, Clementine (pronounced Clemen-tyne) and Leo. Other suggestions: Ivy or Adaline?

Ipanema01 · 01/11/2022 11:20

I’m not French (tho OH Is French Canadian), we probably can’t get away with the likes of Appoline realistically

DotDotDotDotDot · 01/11/2022 11:13

I like Paloma, Clementine, Leonie and Iris. Cece is cute but only as a nickname.
Not keen on the others, sorry.

DinaofCloud9 · 01/11/2022 10:26

I like Leonie and Iris.

GlassDeli · 01/11/2022 10:23

My favourites on your list are Clementine, Paloma and Leonie.

Clara

Pearl
Greta
Beatrix
Elspeth
Genevieve
Naomi
Cordelia
Valerie

Rauha · 01/11/2022 10:20

Iris

Pemba · 01/11/2022 10:06

Gala was Salvador Dali's wife, I doubt it is a typo for Gaia. Unfortunately in English Gala is not widely known as a name and would be assumed to be an event like a fete or fair.

How do you pronounce Cece?

Are you French OP? As a lot of your selected names are French. Especially Appoline which I understand is very fashionable in France. I don't really see the appeal to be honest, maybe I'm missing something.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/11/2022 09:56

Inès is lovely, but if you use it, be prepared for people to get the accent mixed up.

I know a Lea (Lee, bloke, in his late 30s) and a Lea (Lay-ah, baby girl), so would spell it Leah or Lia.

AdaColeman · 01/11/2022 09:54

My favourite is Leonie, with Paloma and Clementine close runners up.

My least favourites are Etta Leo and Gala.

lf Gala is a mistype for Gaia I like that. Also like Cece as a nn for Celia Cicely or Cecilia.

You might Leah or Lydia or Aphra?

Alice362 · 01/11/2022 09:44

From your list I like only Iris - that's lovely name.

catbirddogchild · 01/11/2022 09:37

Clementine- Pronunciation issues Tyne ot teen? also clemy does unfortunately make be think clamy
Cece- What's it short for?
Gala - Is this spelt correctly? I don't know it as a name.
Lilac - Not keen
Leonie- ok
Etta- ok Henrietta?
Iris- like
Leo- boys name. everyone will assume she is a boy or you wanted another boy ( it does go well with your other boys though). Cleo??
Clemence- not keen
Paloma- ok
Appoline- ok

MassiveSalad22 · 01/11/2022 09:35

Ooh Leonie was on our list, love it and love Leo for a girl! Didn’t go for it as CBA with pronunciation issues - leah-nee, lee-OH-nee etc blah blah

Clementine/Clemecy/Cece could all spring from each other so I’d just go clementine nn Cece if you wanted one of those

Considered Paloma, love that too.

Pandora?
