My DD would be Yamini or Emma
DS Harry and if he was a girl then Alice

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

First DS was delivered by doctor called Thomas.
Second DS was delivered by midwife called Lisa. Not sure Lisa works for a boy!

No idea. The only one I remember out of 4 children was jayne with a Y. She was a right prick so no chance of that 🤣

Alex (she was female but obviously that would work for either gender). I actually loved Alex but we had a close friend at the time whose child was called Alex. My mum’s name is Alexandra but she hasn’t used it since she was a teenager as she hates it so I don’t know if she’d have liked us to use it in tribute or not.

The anaesthetist was called Tim. His is the only name I remember.

TFMinx · 31/10/2022 08:26

I can't remember the names of the midwives who delivered my DS, however when I was born, my DPs didn't have a name for me, so my dad asked the midwife what her name was and they would call me after her. Her name was Maude. My mum very loudly replied with, "We are not calling her Maude!" And they didn't.

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 31/10/2022 08:24

Can't remember anyone's names except Midwife Kate. She was an absolute legend and if we hadn't picked DDs name already then Kate would have been a strong contender.

NoodleSnow · 31/10/2022 08:19

My child has the name of the midwife that delivered them (different full name, but same short form). It was pure coincidence though, the name was already picked.

luciaann · 31/10/2022 08:18

Chelsea or Kelly

Candleabra · 31/10/2022 08:17

Kirsten. I actually nearly named DD1 after the lovely student midwife, it was an awful birth and she was so amazing and caring. She even stayed after her shift ended as she wanted to see me through til the end.

Mylittlesandwich · 31/10/2022 08:13

My son would be called Lisa. I had other midwives in hospital but she was the one who was nice to me.

KnittingAuntie · 31/10/2022 08:01

Brenda . . . she was absolutely lovely but there's no way I could have named DD after her

AdventCaroline · 31/10/2022 07:49

I actually did!

We were undecided between two names, then the midwife was called one of them, so we took it to be a sign.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 31/10/2022 07:46

No idea, the midwives were lovely but I can't remember any of their names. In fairness I only saw them when I was in heavy labour and was discharged from hospital after an hour or two so its not like we had lots of time to chat!

weebarra · 31/10/2022 07:46

Can't remember but as it turns out, when DS2 nearly died due to an undiagnosed heart condition when he was ten days old, the doctor who worked on him in resus and got him stable enough to be moved, had the same unusual name as DS2.
I'll never forget him.

Dreamingcats · 31/10/2022 07:43

I have no idea, labour was so hideous I have no memory of the midwives!

kitcat15 · 31/10/2022 07:41

Beate ( midwife was pol8sh)

InsertPunHere · 31/10/2022 07:39

Hannah or Tracey

soulinablackberrypie · 31/10/2022 07:37

I have two DSs and they were both delivered by female midwives, with no doctor (male or female) in sight. I thought that was the norm in the UK!

Anyway, the first midwife's name was Priscilla, which doesn't really lend itself to a male version. I never knew the first name of my male GP of the time. We did half-jokingly consider the name Jarvis for DS1 because where we were living when he was born, our house was very small (though not with woodchip on the wall!) That's probably the closest I can think of to a "birth circumstances" name for him.

The second midwife was Jean, so I could have used John, which coincidentally is one of DS2's names but not because of her.

WaitingForEgg · 30/10/2022 23:10

My daughter would be my own name (i wasn’t my own doctor) or Sue

for my son the midwife was Karen and doctor Lauren

I had a male trainee midwife assist on my daughter's birth many moons ago. It was his first delivery.
After she was born he asked what I was going to call her, when I told him he was nearly in tears, it was his mum's name so he had to run off to phone his mum and tell her. Pure coincidence.
