Variations of Rose

Hello, I’d love to hear your favourite variations of the name Rose please. It will be for a middle name to honour my Granny Rose (if it’s a girl of course, we’re having a surprise!) So far I’m really liking Rosalia and Rosalie. 2 or more syllables will work best. Thanks in advance.

You probably don't want to hear this, but if it's a middle name to honour your Gran than I think you should stick with Rose. The others are different names. I think if you wanted a first name but didn't like Rose enough then it would be reasonable to find something vaguely reminiscent. But for a middle name? Just honour your Gran by using her actual name!

Thanks everyone for your comments, some lovely suggestions. I think my favourites are Rosa, Rosanna and Rosina. Still like Rosalia & Rosalie too.

Rhosyn (Welsh for Rose)

If it’s in memory of someone named Rose I’d just go for Rose

Why not use Rose. Its beautiful…. It’s not honouring her if you are changing the name.

LulooLemon · 29/10/2022 22:52

Roisin is nice

I think if you are honouring a Rose but want 2 plus syllables then Rosa or Rosanna are my faves (those seem closest to Rose to me? Rosa is just Latinised and Rosanna just an elaboration or like having two middle names - Rose Anna)

Rosamund, Rosalind etc are lovely too imo but I think they're too far from your Gran's name.

I have a Rosa… she gets lots of compliments about her lovely name.
There aren’t very many of them but it also doesn’t say ‘trying too hard to be different’ - perfect.

Was your Granny from an area with other languages (Welsh, Irish etc or from abroad?) Are the names for Rose different where she was from and you could use one of those?

inappropriateraspberry · 29/10/2022 21:57

What's wrong with Rose?
