Help us give our baby girl a name

Hi ladies,

Currently 19 weeks pregnant and we are yet to agree on any names.

We would like her middle name to be Angela (after my Mam who passed away last month) and her last name will be Orr.

My partner likes floral names, but we can't use Ivy, Lily or Rose.

Please help us give our little girl a name 😂 xxx

I think you need a longer first name to go with orr OP. Willow Angela Orr works. Love Iris and Holly too but might be too short with your surname.

Violet and Jasmine are nice and I think would be the contenders for me. So sorry about your mum x

GlassDeli · 23/10/2022 08:27

I would avoid first names which end in certain letters. When they run into the surname they sound like words. Sore, tore, gore.

Rosamund ? I think you need a name that ends with a consonant, given both Angela and Orr start with a vowel. Violet works well too, or Iris.

Rosamund is lovely with the surname.

Violet-Orr doesn't sound great.

Very few of these names on this thread go well with the surname, but Violeta (Veeohletta) Orr might work.

Iris Angela is so beautiful.

SurpriseSurprise · 22/10/2022 19:12

I think you need a name which doesn’t start with a vowel because of your surname starting with one

Holly Angela Orr
Hazel Angela Orr
Rosemary Angela Orr
Viola Angela Orr

AmandaMirandaPanda · 22/10/2022 19:09

Could you consider Angelica as a first or middle name, fulfilling the "flower name" wish and giving a nod to your mother as welI? Angelica flowers traditionally symbolise both protection and inspiration.

(I completely understand if using your Mam's name Angela just as she did is the right way to honour her, so this is just a thought.)

mathanxiety · 22/10/2022 19:04

Chloe Angela Orr (means 'green shoot')
Cicely Angela Orr (Cicely is a herb)
Clementine Angela Orr
Holly Angela Orr
Hazel Angela Orr
Susanna Angela Orr (means lily)
Tamara Angela Orr (palm tree)
Jasmine / Jessamine Angela Orr
Savannah Angela Orr
Sylvie Angela Orr (from Latin for woodland)
Willow Angela Orr
Kezia Angela Orr (name derived from the acacia/cassia tree)

Quarique · 22/10/2022 18:26

CharlotteFlax · 22/10/2022 18:22

Iris Orr on its own is a great name though. Adding Angela in makes it extra great.

So sorry to hear about your mum, what a lovely tribute to her.

what about some of these floral names:

Iris Angela - love the flow of this, this would be my choice

Poppy Angela
Evanthe Angela
Calla Angela
Marguerite Angela
Camellia Angela
Daisy Angela

Her surname is Orr & whilst Angela is a lovely tribute to her mum, she's not going to get called name/middle name at school (or at all) she's going to get called name Orr.
