Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on a baby girls name - Truly. I absolutely love it but husband isn't convinced... xxx

It's not just for a baby though. She'll be an adult most of her life and it's really not a great choice for a woman.

This is what people don't factor in. They name a baby, not a person with a future.

blossomstar · 21/10/2022 16:55

😂😂😂😂😂 Christ almighty. Absolutely no chance I'll be mentioning DD1 name 😂😂😂😂😂

Kardashian

Try Verily instead.

RandomMusings7 · 21/10/2022 16:35

It's not a name. Stop trying to make it into one. Sounds ridiculous

EvelynBeatrice · 21/10/2022 16:33

What a shame! It is pretty, but yes, the scrumptious Chitty bang bang thing. If you like the meaning and not just the sound, there is Verity.
I also know a girl 'Perry' (short for Persephone - Greek family connections) which has a similar vibe. Ruby, Sylvie, Tilly?

SD1978 · 21/10/2022 16:32

Only ever seen it on sister wives, an American show about polygamy.

AllPlayedOut · 21/10/2022 16:30

Absolutely not. It's utterly ridiculous. Twee and just awful.

I now have Truly Scrumptious stuck in my head and probably will have for the rest of the day.

KangarooKenny · 21/10/2022 16:29

I love it ❤️

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/10/2022 16:27

There have been about 45 of them registered in the past 10 years.

SpiderBabies · 21/10/2022 16:14

It's a name in the same way Pussy (Galore) or Christmas ('only comes once a year' Jones) is a name - to be a punchline in a film script for a character. It's not something you'd foist on an actual human being. Who would have to spend her whole life going, 'ha ha yes, as in Scrumptious, I know, pregnancy hormones, I guess.'

Elspethelf · 21/10/2022 16:11

Truly is a name, just not a common one. There is nothing wrong with it, and it sounds nicer than Trudy in my opinion.

Young children wouldn’t know Truly Scrumptious, that was on old movie when I was a kid.

WaltzingWaters · 21/10/2022 15:57

I immediately sang truly Scrumptious as most others here have. Please don’t do that to your child, she’ll constantly have people sing that to her.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 21/10/2022 15:53

Truly a bad idea.

NoSquirrels · 21/10/2022 15:49

If it weren’t for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang you’d be OK. But Scrumptious is really all anyone will ever hear. Don’t do it to her!

Ian Fleming’s names for women and girls are not to be recommended in any way.

It is a name though...

Even after all of these messages, I still love it 😂

A lot to consider

Is it? Where does that stop? Is Faithfully a name? Is Carefully?

YesitsBess · 21/10/2022 15:46

I agree that it’s actually a nice sounding word for a name!

However I am also in the ‘Scrumptious’ camp, sorry.

I much prefer Trudy

tweedlee · 21/10/2022 15:24

No no no. Its an adverb, not a name.

Avidreader69 · 21/10/2022 15:17

Truly Scrumptious. Just don't.

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/10/2022 15:17

Call her Truly Scrumptious and be done with it.

Imogensmumma · 21/10/2022 14:33

Prue or Judy damn autocorrect

Imogensmumma · 21/10/2022 14:33

Truely hate it… What about Prueor Judy

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 21/10/2022 14:33

True sounds like a sheepdog.
