Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on a baby girls name - Truly. I absolutely love it but husband isn't convinced... xxx

Little girl at my daughters school called Trulie I think it's lovely really suits her but I do like quirky names

alotoftutus · 25/10/2022 20:20

I sing Truly Scrumptious as soon as I hear it I'm afraid. Could Trudy be an option?

PinkSyCo · 25/10/2022 19:42

It’s a truly awful and pretentious name. 😬

KirstenBlest · 25/10/2022 19:26

When I was little, I couldn't believe that my parents had watched Sleeping Beauty as children.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will still appeal.

blameitonthecaffeine · 25/10/2022 19:22

It's not just the film though, it's a stage musical which has been touring in the UK in the last few years and has amateur rights available, including for a newly released junior version. I'm choreographing our lower school production of it right now so all our children know the song.

It's not an unpleasant sounding name, I don't think. But I would avoid it for the Truly Scrumptious link.

The film was made in 1968

I know what year it was released in because I've heard of Google.
I was asking if pp was teaching recently. I'm not sure how popular the film is with today's children.

Fivebeanchilli · 25/10/2022 09:49

Sounds like Julie! I would immediately assume that they were trying to say Julie.

Was this recently? I've never heard of "truly scrumptious" and I'm not young.

I’ve taught a Truly and the scrumptious part was used almost daily. I can only imagine how bloody tedious it was for her.

Truly Scrumptious. Poor kid.

Enko · 23/10/2022 23:15

I like it. But I do think scrumptious when I first hear it.

It's pretty though.

Theskyisfallingdown · 23/10/2022 15:45

Is your other kid called blossomstar by any chance?

CruelworldKindwords · 23/10/2022 11:25

I love it. It's a beautiful name.

Tula

Isn't that a handbag company?

Otillie is an actual name, albeit French.

Truly is a random adverb.

Not comparable.

Indeed, that's why the joke works.

toomuchlaundry · 22/10/2022 01:21

What’s your DD1’s name @blossomstar

Kanaloa · 22/10/2022 01:05

A name is just a word anyway, why are there rules on what can and can't be a name?

Because otherwise we’d have kids named Box and Chacha-Slide and Truly. However you twist it people in the UK generally don’t name their children random English words.

illtryohelp · 22/10/2022 01:04

Tula

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 22/10/2022 01:04

Nope .

Truly what?

Hi, this is Truly
Truly what?
My daughter.
She's truly your daughter?
No she's Truly and she's my daughter.
What??

Trudy is nice.

😂

I love that you’d never be able to introduce her without sounding like you’d just kidnapped her. ‘This is Truly my daughter. She’s my daughter… Truly. Honestly I promise she’s mine.’

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/10/2022 01:00

Dear god no.

It’s as bad as story. It’s is incredibly low rent.

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 22/10/2022 00:00

Truly RIDICULOUS!!

Tbf MN has been obsessed with the name Utterly recently.

Sorry I mean, Ottilie.
